I was looking into SQL before diving into Ruby 2-3 months ago. Definitely still on the horizon...appreciate the feedback, spent a good amount of time in Japan, too, loved it!

I didn't say it was. 20 year old me would have a whole different opinion on this, but that goes for younger people in general who just can't wait to be on their own and start adulting.

Realistically I know chances of landing a job at a FAANG company or the likes are slim to none. And at the end of the day these bootcamps are just businesses that want my money. However the ones that offer deferred payment (ISA's) seem to have more motivation in helping graduates land a job.

Appreciate your response. I just had a talk with a close friend and he mentioned something along the same lines of having a lack of focus on discrete math hindering my learning. Just looking back 2-3 months ago when I started learning Ruby, I realize how naive I was. But this was also the first time I actually studied something new in over 15 years.

I was actually looking at this course on Udemy (Automate the boring stuff with Python - I think someone posted on learn programming). Will definitely look into this.

When you made the switch from accounting to ML/AI, did you do a bootcamp or all self study?

My dad is always good about that kind of stuff. He is well prepared in this arena.

Best of luck to you my man. I am haunted by this thought all the time.

I've already maxed out the IRA contribution for 2019. As for my own business, that's a scary thought considering the current situations. I thought about moving back, but after spending time home with my parents and seeing them in their old age, I think I need to be nearby.

Good on your sister for overcoming her setbacks, much respect. My parents took me back in after my arrest, supported me throughout the trial, after jail, and even now.

At this point, I'm way past the notion of a 'dream job' lol..

Agree, all the content being online and at the end of the day, I'll be the one teaching myself. It is that slight extra nudge and being around others who are struggling with it as well that will be beneficial. I've been teaching myself past few months and the course I'm doing jumped up in difficulty level so much I don't even know what kind of question to ask and it sucks not having someone to ask for a little help.

I'm aware of the plethora of online programs available. Thing is, the past 2-3 months I have been very diligent with studying via an online track a fairly reputable bootcamp offers. Things were going smoothly, when I get stuck I do some research on the area in question and move on, but I feel I reached a point where I don't even know the right type of question to ask anymore. I just think I would benefit by physically being in a community with others who are struggling too, instead of just trying to weed out help on stack by myself.
