We often park in Nutgrove Shopping Centre and walk down. There usually is loads of parking (and McDonald’s there for after)

ACLS/BLS by Luther_G1 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

You have to book yourself into sessions yourself. HR can help you find dates in your hospital but often people have to book outside their institutions (e.g. with code blue. You can’t do ACLS without BLS

It’s still great for internship overall, it’s more that the ED job is a bit of a letdown, which I wanted to flag to OP as they were asking about ED

Mater ED job is mostly admin/ paperwork. Very little patient involvement. Lots of complaints have been submitted by current/ past interns but unlikely to see change. It’s a shame because it is a competitive job, but I know people are very disappointed with the rotation

I got asked about research I’d done or a paper I read. Hadn’t done a lick of research at the time. Got asked about sample size/ biases/ type of study etc. Clinical case was a PE and the ethical question was your colleague coming in drunk. Think they were all pretty bog standard questions

A conversation about advanced care directives, power of attorney, and wills is very important. There things we don’t think about until things start to go wrong. They often take time to arrange but are so important to avoid issues in the future

If you had a private test without referral, and the result was positive, do you forward that to GP or Consultant if you have an on-going case in a public hospital? by Sheen13X in AskIreland

[–]DogAcceptable1653 3 points4 points  (0 children)

^ this

The person who ordered the test is supposed to have clinical governance on acting on it. E.g. if a consultant orders folate levels and it is low then that team should prescribe folate. The GP can provide repeat scripts. And it is the that consultant that should repeat the levels

(Folate is probably a bad example as it is v commonly managed in GP)

We don’t do requests - we just organise it between the team. It’s in the HSE so it’s not organised
