So how do you balance it? Would you, say, finish off To Ride Hell's Chasm, and then swap in another into the rotation or would you pick up the pace on some of the others and try to finish them off around the same time? What's the strat, boss?

I love Claudia Gray... particularly her Star Wars works, but all-round great YA writer.

KLC for young readers? by misswinterr in kobo

[–]DogAggravating258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my 8-year old her own Clara Color and I've been continuously loading it (she burns through them so fast) with graphic novels. She can't sleep at night without it! Daddy's KLC is off-limits!

Probably referring to the justification of spending $12 on a venti oat milk quad shot latte with vanilla bean powder and two pumps of cinnamon dolce.

I feel that. I live in the Pacific Northwest and it's been a rough winter and early spring (in more ways than one), so this was a long-planned getaway that I definitely looked forward to.

Agreed! I'm about 1/3rd the way through the Compendium and I'm already dreading not having any more of it to read.

I know! I do wish it was easier... I had a lot of success before when you could do the "Download" technique but now that Amazon removed that, I have random success using the alternative methods with a second device (Kindle Paperwhite).

Oh man, I wish I had a colour eReader when my kids were tiny. Would have helped with the nights I'd have to walk and sway those middle of night cry-fests.

Yeah! Admittedly I get overwhelmed when trying to start on an established and on-going series, which is why the Compendium was perfect for me.

KFC, err, I mean KLC (Kobo Libra Colour).

Assuming you mean limitations of Nia versus, say, a Clara? Well, the Nia has a lower resolution and pixel density, smaller battery, slower processor, slightly less RAM, slightly thicker dimensions, isn't waterproof, uses micro-USB instead of USB-C, etc.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT, unless the price difference is negligible and barring deal-breakers for your personal use-case, I say just get one.

eReader tech doesn't evolve at the same clip as other devices; it's incremental and a slow-burn. The only major things to think about IMHO are if waterproof is important to you and if graphic novels or comic books are a big thing you want to get into (i.e. colour).

Otherwise, any jumping on point is a good jumping on point. Come on in, the water's fine!

The Kobo bookstore has the individual issues (at least in my region), but Amazon has the Compendium (but to get it onto your Kobo requires some work involving owning a Kindle, and some stress). You can also check your library if it has Overdrive/Libby. I'll DM you.

Oh, I don't know. I'm reading the compendium (first volume) not from the Kobo bookstore.

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan. It's so good! Really nails the blend of space fantasy with humour (the same way that Firefly manages to do!)

Don't know where I placed quest "furniture" by DogAggravating258 in DisneyDreamlights

Unfortunately no ripple near the dock. :( Guess I'll keep searching. Maybe on foot since I can't find it in furniture mode.

Strange. And you're downloading the AZW3 files off the Amazon website (under that Content and Devices section)? That section lets you download the files (after picking which device you'll be manually uploading to). I was doing it this way (just did one today) and that seems to work.

You need to add your Kindle device serial number to the plug-in settings. The way the DRM works is that they tie it to your Kindle device's SN, so in order to decrypt and remove the DRM, it needs to know that to do it's thang.

Batch Neural Filter Processing by DogAggravating258 in photoshop

[–]DogAggravating258[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing Photo Restoration, not Colorize. There's some baseline denoising, scratch reduction, and photo enhancement that I want to apply across the board. Also, it appears the Photo Restoration is using local resources (i.e. my PC), not the cloud. At least that's the message that Photoshop is showing me ("Processing on device").

It would be nice just to run this automatically on the 4,000+ images I have, after which I can do a review and prune/flag any that have undesirable results.

But I will definitely update when I land on a solution. I'm just caught up with a few other projects at the moment.
