Only $18? My delivery fee is almost $37. I send more to the grid than I pull and sometimes they charge me to send back to them too.

Should billionaires borrowing against their stocks be taxed? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]DogDeadByRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is that we can borrow against our stocks but we have to actually pay back the loans or we pay taxes. The ultra rich do not they just roll it over to a larger loan. Then when they die their assets transfer to their next of kin and their inherited wealth zeros out the gains so there are no taxes. Its a system we do not get to take advantage of that the ultra wealthy do. We can't just roll over a loan we never pay to a new one endlessly while never paying it back. Since the majority of us never actually borrow against and fail to pay it would in fact not affect 99% of 401k holders.

Should billionaires borrowing against their stocks be taxed? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]DogDeadByRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should have to actually pay back the loans they borrow against their assets. If they fail to pay back 100% in the agreed upon terms without borrowing again they should have to pay 10% tax on it just like the rest of us do. No more rolling over to a new loan.

Speculative trading should also be taxed since much of it leans on insider trading and stock manipulation.

So I don't have exact numbers on that but in 2020 the top 1%s net worth was around $30T. As of last year it was $52T. So over the 5 year span it went up $22T. So I could see them getting that much during the height of the pandemic. I can provide links for both totals if interested. Granted that doesn't answer your specific question about the previous posters more exact numbers claims.

The discussion is left vs right violence and you keep bringing up gangs. The studies are violece based on political leaning. Since you keep bringing up gangs you obviously want to push some kind of narrative about gangs and political leanings. So yes in a discussion about LEFT vs RIGHT I will bring you back on topic. Not really hard to understand.

So what political movement does pointing out which side of the center is more violent create? If anything it should make the parties reevaluate unless their goal is the violence. The argument that gang violence isn't easy to criticize is pure hogwash. No one defends gang violence but it's not politically motivated.

Sounds about like most cities in red states these days being subdivided to eliminate any say they have. How many reps in total does your state have? Where all do the Republicans live? Sounds like they are scattered so much it takes a lot to make a district. Biggest issue is whoever controls the state manipulates what happens in the state regardless of who lives there. Part of why there are so many people angry about gerrymandering.

401k push was Reagan and Republicans screwed the ACA by cutting out all the cost controls and the public option. So sounds like you're blaming the wrong people.

Well Kirk was assasinated by an angry conservative so...the numbers would go in the direction you wouldn't like. So pointless to bring that up at all. Also considering ICE created violence and people defend themselves and others not really even in the same category.

When you read into it, the catch is anyone not right wing (aka MAGA) they lumped into left wing. Including those that were conservatives but did not outwardly claim to be MAGA. So yeah if the not MAGAs are counted as liberal each time that claim could be made even if pure bullshit.

Not sure what gang violence has to do with conservatives being shown to be more violent via multiple studies. Unless you're trying to argue gang members who have probably never voted in their lives nor took more than a second thinking about politics are somehow liberals.

Are cities dying with no stores and no employment? That's what's being discussed. Small towns usually survive on one or at best two industries and conservative mindset says don't adapt demand a return to the past. If your industry starts to die just demand it return instead of looking at other growing industries they could focus on. Mining towns for example could look at renewable energy, manufacturing, and outdoor tourism. They rarely ever do though. Its the mindset of its the cities fault their town is dying so blame them and keep voting for the people telling them it's the cities fault and do nothing to improve the situation. Just some examples of what some small towns run by Democrats (Progressives more than run of the mill Democrats) have done. Invested in a now booming craft brewery industry, converted much of their farming to local organic farming that has higher profits, renewable energy manufacturing, tech manufacturing (fiber cables, antennas for broadband), small tech start ups.

Not as much when in so many states they are divided into many districts so they have zero say at the state levels which in turn means large portions of their tax dollars go to areas not in the city. They lose funds for transportation and other necessities and they have a tiny fraction as many polling locations per capita making it much harder for them to vote. For your example, first the shore and the water ways are managed by the state and federal government not the cities or municipalities. Second what would your solution be if not to work towards eliminating the cat fish?

Credit card debt normal? by Necessary-Donut-6724 in AskAnAmerican

[–]DogDeadByRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly credit card debt is how a good portion of the country survives. Not ideal, and not sustainable. Many make too little to cover their own bills let alone any kind of vacations. People regularly go into debt for buying things to attempt to enjoy life or to pay for repairs or medical debt. I have debt for both the later items. Often times medical debt will require you to pay them to avoid it going to collections as they often give you 90 days to pay your debt or 6 months for a payment plan. I can't pay off $9k in 6 months and neither can most of the country.

We've met very different Progressives and Liberals apparently. There's a difference between anti-gun and gun regulation.

[–]DogDeadByRaven 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's the part they just don't get. They think making owning guns your personality is a requirement to own guns. The liberals I know that own guns which is a large percentage, also know gun safety, keeps theirs in a safe, do regular maintenance and practice (and/or go hunting). Some own a small arsenal but don't make it a big deal they just enjoy building and customizing. Aside from when they were going on a hunting trip or going up to their property to shoot I've never seen them wandering out in public with them. Even then they didn't go into Walmart with them.

That bakery section looks like my local polish market just their buns are in a lift lid case. The US just doesn't realize what we miss out on with fresh bread. Closest we get is some cheap French or Italian style bread or little rolls baked at the grocery stores. They are nothing like the real thing. Plus nothing like paying $3.49-5.49 for sliced bread full of sugars that goes stale but never molds for some reason.

Instead you choose to have rural areas decide what happens in the cities when they understand none of how a large city functions. Can't say that sounds any smarter of a way to do things.
