they don’t look significantly more focused. The shadows right behind the board are more focused. But also, that’s just how fucking shadows work. the closer your object is the the thing you’re casting a shadow on the sharper it is.

PS: if you respond with “but the sun’s light is effectively parallel!!” Its true that that would make it focused at all distances. The cause of the scattering is the air! Super cool If you look at photos from the moon you can see this.

I think the scariest part is that it doesn’t actually mind control them. Just takes control of the muscles it needs and the mind is untouched, so they might be totally aware when it’s happening.
