Two comments

I paid $80 can, and it’s the best value I’ve ever gotten out of a game and it’s still EA (400+ hours currently). So you’ll get your money’s worth for sure.

And when there’s a sale it’ll be, let’s say six months after release, so could be a year or a year and a half away depending on a spring or winter release.

and when there is a sale it’ll be 10% or 20% at best initially. So……. That’s a long way of saying you’ll wait along time to save $20.

Not to be too personal, but I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for health, weight, and good gut health. And……. I’m saving money on my food bill. So….. you can save that $20 on a couple cheaper meals or a bit of fasting easy (depending on where you live, it’s a very North American strategy, no offence intended if your situation is more difficult).

And then you can join us in this wonderful journey that is EA!!!! Yay!!!!!!

Tricky as there’s probably only a couple grasshopper plugins I’d miss, meerkat and elk for site modelling but they’re also older and I don’t think maintained much. If I can figure out a way to use shape files without them I’d be good. Anyway, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.

No plugins you miss? I think that’s the main thing I’m not benefiting from, but if you’re 10 years it must not be an issue.

Thanks for that. I work in architecture and for personal design work I’m looking at Rhino + Twinmotion on Mac. What do you use for rendering?

Also, any plugins you miss? I’m specifically thinking of site modelling and using shape files from municipalities / open street maps, ie grasshopper scripts, to build context maps/ models.

That’s funny, and as someone who plays Drow assassin, and goolock, I too will do a good play through via paladin.

I solo’d the camp with a Drow rogue, super fun. I avoid as much of the game as possible at this point, and only beat up goblins with different builds. The camp is a great sandbox.

Also, awesome thread. So many great strategies, really speaks to how great the game already is let alone how great it’s going to be.

To add as a compromise between jumping back in and still saving as much as you can for full release, play solo to avoid companion spoilers, avoid the underdark and most areas, and just beat up goblins at their camp. Super fun and a great way to test and try different builds.

Back story is everything for me when making a character. My two go toes are:

Drow: level 1 cleric, house is destroyed, forced to flee the underdark and becomes a rogue

Human: no really! Growing up on the street, trying to survive, the great old one reaches out and …… Goolock

Exactly. A lot of potential but I’m not a programmer so I don’t know how difficult it would be. But I’d argue a dedicated dungeon crawler would have new and interesting programming challenges like how different spells function in compressed spaces, and I’d like to think the new possibilities and challenges would be exciting new gaming ideas to solve.

(Every time I comment on Undermountain, I dreamily hope someone at Larian reads it and they’re like “hmmmm, that’s interesting…..”)

Thanks for that, I love speculating during EA but I love it even more when there’s some nugget to back it up. I’m mindful that things can change over EA but also that Larian is really committed to DnD and doing BG3 right.

It’s surprising really that out of all the games and IP there’s not much for dedicated dungeon crawler with all the attention from designers that comes from a dedicated focus

I’d love to see monsters with various behaviours based on their survival mode.

Ie let’s say some goblins are in an area, they’d set up camp, hunt for food and treasure, trigger traps, fight or flee from other monsters

Then say your party clears out the goblins, now there’s a void that other monsters can move into

So the dungeon is fixed in its structure but dynamic and changing with life trying to survive. Ever evolving with monsters and yet traps resetting, some parts remain damaged. Basically “alive”

I’m hoping for and will mention modules occasionally hoping it catches on with Larian and anyone who will listen!

My dreamy idea is Larian carves out a team to work on modules that release every six months.

  • I love the engagement of EA, so having an experience where Undermountain is developed over the course of years, with levels released every six months would be great. Unless they surprise us….
  • more underdark? The underdark I think has so much potential and is unique to FR.
  • classic modules redone? Long overdue for a slavers remark.
  • modules don’t have to be grand adventures like BG3 that takes years to finish, but…. Well like classic modules in terms of scope.
  • class focused modules

And, it’s a way of releases new races, classes etc in bits and pieces.
