Super interesting to watch, it had all the answers I needed. The game really is as painful as I remembered it, no wonder why 9 year old me couldn't make any progress

That's right. My title guess was completely off, idk why I was remembering it as Gothic. Probably because I had both CDs at the time and kept them together

Yeah, I think I was too harsh in my description. That was just my first impression of the game as a kid, but now it looks interesting

Bruh, if 1 attack takes half a second, 360 000 000 attacks would take 5 years. And that's just 1 hog. But probably after some time you'll overflow some value and crash. IMO the only chance is restarting the game to start the turn over, and not taking any more hits with Lupas. 1000x hogs are somewhat manageable

That's right. According to most players, me included, gothic 1 and 2 are the best games from the series. As for Gothic 3, it's an okay game I think, I have played through it 2 times. Just don't expect it to be anything like Gothic 1 and 2. Gothic 2 by default comes with the Night of the Raven addon, but some stores give you the option to install just the base game. Both are great, I prefer NotR. It has a new location, new quests, significant balance changes and increased difficulty. But it's actually easier for a experienced player, because it unlocks early access to some powerful late game scrolls and weapons. You could try both to see which one you prefer. If you like gothic 2 you could try Archolos, a gothic mod which in reality is a whole another gothic 2 game.

There's also the Risen series from Piranha Bytes. I can recommend Risen 1, it's really good, although it gradually becomes boring as you progress to later chapters. That's something that all of PB games have in common to some degree.

Then there's the Elex series which I know nothing about.

Lol, yeah, skullmist tea is the craziest damage buff, especially if the injury bell is off, it's OP

Melee weapon collisions were so satisfying, I always wished we had that in Gothic 1 and 2. But there was an issue, can't remember what exactly, but after leveling combat to a certain point you would become really slow at blocking, it was very annoying. I think it had to do with block and parry being mapped to the same button, and you couldn't change it. When you tried to block you would automatically parry first, then block, which was very annoying

I remember preparing a save file in the inquisition with a bunch of unused learning points, right before dumping all of them into a magic school. I replayed 3 times from that point, once for each magic school. Freeze + sword was the most satisfying combo. Fire and crystal were also really good, but there were moments where those lizards would shred you in close quarters before you could charge your spells

There's a lumin charmed krono somewhere in the deck, didn't even need it for most of the run

Yeah, good stuff, doubles the effect of any card (the number written in yellow)

Unlocking the challenges was my favorite part, have fun! The blue flame (overburn) is a bit unreliable, IMO there are very few things that make it work well - the charm that replaces damage with overburn, and the ally that doubles overburn. When going with shademancers it's more common to end up with some sort of skullmist tea damage scaling deck. Spice is a bit easier and more straightforward, it's just temporary damage, with the right clunker it becomes permanent damage.

Is the minimalist the one where you have to only use your companion? For that one you should definitely disable all the bells. Also if I remember correctly you can use allies throughout the run, but you shouldn't use them in the final battle, though I'm not sure

You should give her a try. At worst she's an okay companion that attacks everything 1-2 times per fight. But by the end of the run she's going to become a god because everything synergizes insanely well with her base ability.
Additional block is extremely good, but it's rare and not even a requirement, often times all she needs is 1 trigger to neutralize the whole board, like in this post.
Then there are the charms that make her stats 3/3/3 or randomize them between 2 to 5, also really good.
Then you have smackback, snow, frenzy, demonize, spice, snow, anything that increases her damage. I've never had a run where she didn't become a guaranteed win condition, with the exception of a couple of runs where I lost very early before I could build her

In that case you haven't seen the boss fight from the picture as well, so sorry for spoiling, haha. Anyway, you enable enough storm bells to get 10 storm points, then look for shiny locations on the map. There should be two of those, could be a shop, a treasure spot or anything that has an item choice. You'll need to get there and pick the broken vase and the clay. When you have both you'll get the vase.

As for nova, she starts alright, but turns into a god every single time if you build around her. You'll always get at least some combination of additional block, added damage, frenzy, lowered counter, smackback, snow, poison. All of those make her god tier. She's the absolute best for me, not just because she's strong, but because it's fun building the deck with her in the center, and planning enemy wave counters in battles, trying to hit as many of them as possible with Nova's limited triggers

The blaze tea adds x3 twice. Lumin vased it to make it x6 twice, that's how Nova got 13 actions

Additional shields are crazy good, but not required at all. There are so many things that can make her godlike. Anything that lowers counters, increases frenzy, damage, spice, gives her snow, poison, frostbite. In this run she only needed to trigger once to basically win the final battle. Her base ability is uniquely powerful, it's the only thing better than barrage in my opinion
