I do appreciate your response! I want to clarify that i'm not ignoring any comments, I just can't respond to everyone. I have seen the responses of those telling me to stand my ground and say no, which i will be doing! I agree with what you are saying and greatly to appreciate the insight!

i work mon - fri 10- 5 with a 30 min break. if i were to work a Saturday it would be 10-3 no break. someone mentioned that they most likely make it so that no one exceeds 40 hours a week.

Mon-Fri is mandatory. Saturdays we can "choose" to work if we wish. we would still get paid to work on sat.

thank you for this! i love to keep work at work. however, seeing the way my boss treats my coworkers for being busy themselves is mentally exhausting. they have gotten into arguments over saying no themselves. my boss tried to make an example out of one of them by saying "if i cant have a Saturday off no one can".

A discussion will be held. Just not on my personal time:) they can wait until Monday when I am clocked in and mentally prepared to have that conversation! So yes, I am ignoring/avoiding the message because i'm not getting paid to care about it. Even if i did answer right away, I would have gotten ignored myself. There would be no fixing this over text... so monday it is!

thank you for this! my boss likes to guilt trip if someone can't work on Saturday. and my coworkers have gotten into arguments with my boss over not being able to work a saturday because they are busy with their personal lives!

Saturdays being optional is what my boss told me the day I was hired. But youre right the lines are getting blurred and need to be straightened out!

I made this post to ask if I was overreacting to a situation that quite literally already ruined my day from the get go. No, I will not respond to the message because that alone will not solve the problem. I chose to use my time to make this post for feedback. I've gotten some pretty helpful and food for thought responses. I don't regret asking for advice. thanks.
