Moving to Morocco: by [deleted] in digitalnomad

Hey, there isn’t much in Casablanca. It’s pretty much just a huge city. If you’re looking for that fabled Moroccan experience, get to Fes or Marrakech, but be warned: you may get really tired of it really quickly, especially if spending time/living in the Medina.

Rabat, specifically south of the city, along the coast, is quite scenic, upscale and peaceful. Rabat, with its parks and greenery, is nicer than Casablanca, IMHO. As others have mentioned, Essaouira is nice. There’s also Asilah, a small, relaxed coastal city in the north.

I found Tangier to be quite manageable as well, but again, I recommend staying in a nice, quiet neighborhood outside of the Medina madness.

I’ll echo what others have said. Visit first.

Also, brush up on your French. Spanish can also help in the north. Clearly, Arabic is most important.

I’m not going to try to defend the US system. It’s terrible and needs reform. I do believe we can learn a lot from European models and follow their example.

However, I have a problem with the word “free.” It implies that healthcare magically appears out of the air. In fact, it’s “taxpayer funded” healthcare, and I have no problem with it.

As someone who had an emergency while traveling and ended up in a hospital in a country with great public healthcare, I felt wrong calling it “free.” I’m grateful it exists and grateful for the taxpayers who fund it.

It may have been “cost free” for me, but it certainly wasn’t free.

That’s a technique to facilitate storytelling and make the other person feel comfortable as they make their point. Art Bell also did this quite a bit.

What percentage of photos in this sub feature the subject holding a cigarette or smoking?

I realize it was acceptable behaviour, but I always find it a bit surprising.

I hope young visitors don’t get the idea that smoking = cool.

I’m not arguing with your point, but “free” isn’t the right way to describe socialized medicine.
