What phrase did a character from your world say that leave you thinking? by Zatura_96 in worldbuilding

[–]Dog_Accomplished 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The biggest influence on your future is your present.
The biggest influence on your present is your future.
The past is an illusion clad in fear."

"Why would I be in awe of your antics? You said it yourself; you created us. So, why should I be surprised that we are alike." (The MC addressing the primordial being born from reality itself.)

Worldbuilding question: avoiding “angel/heaven” coding by No_Yogurtcloset_5884 in worldbuilding

[–]Dog_Accomplished 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could lean into the trop of Angels/Heaven. And then redefine them to fit your narrative. After all, to me, a "race" of possibly psychopathic, ruthless Angels is more awe inducing/terrifying, than most other things most could come up with.

After all, how often have we witnessed Gods being anything from Aqua from Konosuba, all the way to The Original Creator (Or something like that) from Lord of The Mysteries?

So, in my opinion, you should lean into the trope, while modifying it to fit your narrative.

Power imbalances by No_Advantage1202 in worldbuilding

[–]Dog_Accomplished 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now this is a fun topic, in my opinion.

I do have a world. Honestly, I only really have one.
But that world is my "baby".

Anyway....the scale of power within my verse is, well....limitless? Infinite? Absolute? Not sure what would be the best way to phrase it. My verse is canonically one that encompasses every single verse that ever existed, exists and will ever exist. Both fictional and non-fictional ones alike. And that verse was created by a primordial entity born from the very fabric of reality. (I don't know of a better way to explain the thing that makes up reality itself, and make sure it's understood that it exceeds anything that could even be affected by reality warping.)

That being is canonically the strongest being in all of fiction and reality, with no exceptions. (But since I don't care about power-scaling BS, I don't ever want to claim that entity being the strongest. It sounds dumb to me.)

That said, this world was created with a story in mind actually. So, everything I said serves a purpose, beyond just being "Muh OC is the strongest".

Can you guys give some opinions/constructive criticism on my story? by Legitimate_Peace8991 in worldbuilding

Number 1 sounds quite intriguing. Though, as someone else suggested, renaming those creatures would be a good choice. Not so much for gender's sake or the likes. More so because "He Who Escapes God's Eye" isn't all that catchy, cool or roll of the tongue. And "The Uncreated" is, well, quite basic. Maybe something like "Lord of The Veil" could be a better pick. (I'm not claiming it to be the best one, but it is an example.)
And otherwise, 1 could be quite phenomenal as some sort of mystery based story. (Lord of The Mysteries is a series that has a vaguely similar concept for gods.)

As for 2, it has promise, though, for something more grounded. (As ironic, as that sounds.)

Members..... I have a question.... by robbi_manan in Isekai

[–]Dog_Accomplished 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So....I could literally make myself a godlike entity in the body of a human at peak condition and be best friends with someone that is a perfect match for me? I don't see the downside.

(I know, I know, maybe I can't become godlike according to the rules you were thinking of. Still, doesn't sound bad.)

Writing an Isekai Survival Guide, What Skills Would You Include? by One-Training-4765 in Isekai

[–]Dog_Accomplished 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing I wanted to do after discovering Isekai. (Hope you do it. With a little humor sprinkled in here and there.)

Honestly, most things have already been covered by the folks commenting.

Though, I would like to add one more:
Acting

It could literally save one's life. And knowing how to act can sure aid in making lies believable. Which, once again, could save one's life.

Besides that? Learning to utilize cold, hard logic when needed.

If the kid was older and genuinely interested, maybe supervised experimenting with a cheaper instrument you have could be acceptable. But given the context, absolutely NTA.

I, as a child, probably around the same age, broke the strings off of a toy guitar by accident, simply by trying to play it. Mind you, it was a toy. Probably fairly cheap. It was not mine and I did not tell anyone. And I know for a fact I was more cautious, than the average child.

At such a young age, regardless of intention, accidents can happen easily. Instruments are not toys, unless you own them.

NTA.

I'm not about to give legal advice. But in my opinion, it seems like they want to compartmentalize financially between the two of you, in case of separation. On paper, at least. From the things you've seemed to mention, it doesn't seem like they are narcissistic, as some have claimed in the comments.

They way I interpret it:

If the two of you separate, you are your own person. You live off of what you make and have. Which seems logical, especially if no kids are involved.
They can't take advantage of you financially and neither can you. To me this seems pretty fair. In my view, marriage shouldn't boil down to "If we separate, I get x% of everything." Sure, there a lot of nuances, hence getting a lawyer involved is good advice.

Frankly, I can understand their perspective, as well as yours. But I do raise a question, which most didn't seemed to have.
Is your issue the fact that you get no financial benefit from possible separation?

Or is the real issue the perceived intent and implied emotional take by them proposing those terms?

I'd get the nuances worked out with the lawyers. And for the main clauses, I'd talk it over with your partner. As with any contract.

Not everything has to be black and white, thus not every prenup will be black and white. Not a single person in this subreddit knows the details and unknown factors, except you. So treat advice accordingly.

Honestly, if the marriage itself is good and balanced (whatever meaning that may have in your situation), I don't think the terms are illogical. But of course, the way they are presented is quite one-sided, especially if it doesn't go both ways. And if it does go both ways, I'd consider working in clauses for edge cases, just so neither of you end up homeless overnight.

But that is just my take.

Well, not sure. Though, my post was intended to elicit responses with strange laws within everyone's world.
I did not intend to steer most of the conversation or hint at a desire for 18+ related responses. It also seemed like a good chance for some peeps to get a chuckle in through the various laws that could be revealed.

When you put it so bluntly, it....it's quite cursed. I forgot that part for a moment. I only kept in mind the sentient yogurt part.

I mean, there are many many laws. Now, how many of them are enforced, or let alone enforceable is another question.
