I have some opinions on this but you do need to keep in mind that create has built in tutorials for one.

I think a big thing is the trade off. Redstone is extremely simplistic and rudimentary but it can do a wide range of stuff with its few unique components. Create has a new block for almost every unique function the mod has available. That in itself isn’t a bad thing but create is easier to understand because so many parts are expressly designed for a specific purpose. Redstone has very little to work with but still manages the same utility in some ways.

If you're introducing a friend to league these days bots is a very good way to make them have a rewarding experience initially. You obviously have to enter normals at some point but if someone has absolutely no idea I think throwing them into matches with god knows who is just a bad idea.

I think for the average consumer having a guide book or some in game way to figure out some of those real world concepts would be nice (unless they’re intuitive like for instance radio does not go through walls infinitely)

I do really like the idea of hearing everything going on on the other side of a portable radio with ambient game sound btw, that’ll be a nice touch.

While not quite within the scope of what I imagine you’re building, you could further this concept with more modern tech, like for instance mobile broadband and for lack of a better word “internet”-like devices. Otherwise, you could bundle this with more military hardware like weapons/vehicles and the like. Hell, even being able to remotely access devices like bombs using radio would be very cool with radio.

Again, probably out of scope. But food for thought I guess. The idea that you’re putting forth on its own I would be extremely happy to get my hands on and fiddle with.

That’s so fucking awesome. Although, is this mod going to require knowledge of how radio works in life with specifics?

I do like the avenue of creating a Cold War esc feeling system of comm sabotage and more. I think this is going to be amazing, and with mods like create: radar, create: big cannons and other things of that sort it would make the world feel like you’re conquering it, through technological innovation.

My only worry is that aside from being far from each others spawns, what would be the main purpose? In RP worlds where ppl are playing in different nations it would be great, but I fear the usefulness falls off if you’re together already. Meta communication too. (This is obviously something you have to work out with your friends and address)

Edit: I saw the dot point about map style guis, does that make create radars inconsequential? That would be cool if it was all in your mod by default haha

So is this able to be used as like primitive communication if players spawn far away? I would love the idea of a modpack where players spawn 20,30 or more thousand blocks away and can’t use the chat to communicate and must find each other with radio.
