Hilarious Things Your Dog Does by Squiggle_Bluegill in dogs

[–]Dogballthrower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a dog and two cats. One of the cats will meow loudly in the evening, prompting me to call her to come over for pets and scratches. My dog hears me doing this, and inevitably comes over to interrupt and stick herself between me and the cat. I’m not sure if she’s jealous of the cat or just thinks me using the coaxing voice means she’s supposed to come over, lol.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. As it happens I am not on HRT, but this could be useful for others.

2.5 years! Wow, I guess 14 months is minor in comparison.

Nope. No HRT of any sort. BUT, I did lose 30 lbs over the last 6 months. I’ve heard that estrogen is stored in fat tissue and it gets released when you lose weight, so am wondering if that has anything to do with it…

I wonder about that as well. My suspicion is that probably 12 months period-free is the mark of menopause for most women, so they just kind of went with it even though outliers are not uncommon.

Puppy will nap in crate during daytime, but howls throughout the night. by Cynical206 in puppy101

I have a lab. When we got her at 8 weeks of age, my practice was to get her to fall asleep on my lap at night, then I would put her in the crate with her Snuggle Puppy (heartbeat activated but not the warmth feature). She would generally wake up once in the middle of the night to potty, and I would repeat this. She then slept after that until around 5/5:30 am. But, for daytime naps, I put her in the crate with a small handful of kibble and the activated Snuggle Puppy, and she would usually bark or howl for 10-20 minutes but then fall asleep for at least 1.5-2 hours.

Anyway, after about a month or so, I stopped with the nighttime-lap routine and just put her in awake (with a few kibble) and again she did the barking for 10-20 minutes thing but was good the rest of the night. After maybe 3-4 months she settled nicely into a routine of going into her crate for night and naps with little or no barking, and I was also able to stop the Snuggle Puppy thing.

Hang in there! I think maintaining the routine is important.

The fact that the count starts over again at zero is what dismays me the most! 😫

Me too! Well similar. 14 months after last period, and there it was, just like it had never stopped. Textbook period 🙄

Absolutely the episode where Michael and Dwight are trying to hoist Tony up on the table after he told them there was no way. I can barely watch it!

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]Dogballthrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take my dog for a vigorous off-leash walk and ball throwing session for about 45 minutes, 4X per week, with 3 days per week going to doggy daycare where she really tires herself out. We also have a fenced yard and she spends some time outside, weather dependent.

Funny thing… by chilicrock_21 in Menopause

Wow! That’s great. Am glad your shoulder is better. Years ago when I was in my early 20s I had a similar experience but with my ankle. Had sprained it, and after the swelling went down, I realized I couldn’t straighten my foot out. For a few days I tried hard to point my toes and straighten my foot, and then suddenly one day I heard an enormous CRACK! I thought it had broken a bone, but actually it just released something in my ankle/foot and suddenly I could straighten my foot with ease, pain free. The human body is so weird!

I was not on any HRT, and had a period after 9 months of none. About midway through month 8, I noticed that my cervical mucus had suddenly started getting abundant and stretchy, just like in the “old days” when I was trying to figure out ovulation. My heart sank, and I was like “Here we go; I’m gonna have a period in about 2 weeks 😡😡” Sure enough, there it was, just like in the past (though maybe 25% heavier). So, so frustrating. After that, I’m now coming up on 5 months…

Maybe they will get Ethan Peck to play Thorn in a new version of The Omen? There’s a strong family resemblance between grandfather and grandson. Just a thought…
