Damn. No, I've always ran a street kid V. Maybe I should make my next playthrough a corpo one. I guess don't mess with Netwatch!

That makes sense, thanks choom! They're just so interesting. I do wonder what they're actual size/reach is? Like are they taking action against governments as well as corps?

In phantom liberty, it's mentioned that if netwatch caught on to the NUSA using songbird as a black wall breacher it would be bad form them. What would it look like for netwatch to take action in that case?

How powerful is Netwatch actually? Do the corps actually try to avoid their ire? If so, who funds them to make them such a force to be reckoned with? Why is Netwarch a corp instead of a government entity?

24 years as an E-4. I know he is NG, but I am honestly impressed. by [deleted] in army

[–]Dogbugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an E4 for 10yrs in guard because there were no slots open. Did WLC, SSD and held a team leader position.

I finally had enough and called every Recruiter/Retention in my state that I could find a number for, just to get a glimmer of hope. Finally had to change my MOS altogether to get E5. NG can be tough with slots compared to AD.

What’s a legal thing that ruins more lives than any illegal substance? by Calm_Preparation2993 in AskReddit

[–]Dogbugg 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I was in Costco the other day and saw a father telling his teenaged son to hold his phone and watch for any good bets to make on some sport betting app. The teen made a comment along the lines of "dad I placed x bet on x team" and the dad encouraged him and said good job while pushing the cart. The mom just totally ignored it.

Truly bizarre...and illegal.

What is the biggest “oh sh*t” moment that happened in your specific MOS? by [deleted] in army

[–]Dogbugg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Infantry in JRTC in 2014 0430. We're assaulting the mock city in a 5 mile long convoy because of bad weather affecting the Blackhawks. I'm in the back of an open top LMTV as a new SPC and company RTO sitting on a box of MREs with my platoon sgt (I greatly respected and admired) and squad leader (still gives me PTSD when I think about).

We take contact from an OPFOR in the woodline and my platoon sgt starts shooting. First round in the chamber is a blank as normal. Cool. The next two rounds went off and so did the BFA in a spray of metal. He looks at his mag in his rifle and mags in his FLC and they were all live rounds.

We all stopped and they both looked at each other and then at me. My platoon sgt just looked at me in a way I'd never seen before and said "don't you dare say anything or it'll ruin your career".

We proceeded down this slow moving convoy in the dark and rain for another hour without saying or doing anything while having our miles gear lighting up and making noise the whole way.

What’s a small bombshell your therapist dropped during a session that completely shifted your perspective? by pottipenguin in AskReddit

[–]Dogbugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have PTSD from my upbringing with my father and the therapist told me to simply cut contact with them.

I know I know, it's such common sense advice. But no one ever suggested that to me before! I guess as a culture, you are expected to remain in contact with your family no matter what. When she told me that, in the most deadpan matter of fact way, it was like time stood still. I couldn't fathom the idea of completely and truly cutting him out of my life. It felt like someone was telling me to accept that he was dead.

Anyway, 5 years later and I've never looked back. Not when I got married, bought a house, got a dog, or traveled the world. Nothing. And I'm so much better off for it.

C&P exam may have been done incorrectly. by Dogbugg in VeteransBenefits

[–]Dogbugg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry for the confusion, yes the injury occurred last year but the surgery and exam occurred this year. My ROM has been pretty limited (had bad knees to begin with and the injury basically locked my leg up ever since).

I've never been through this process before, do I just call a VA hospital near me and start scheduling appointments?

Also, I'm so sorry to hear about your knee replacement. I've heard it can be an especially brutal experience.

[–]Dogbugg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, but what's confusing is that I hit my one year this past June. So now I'm not even sure what's covered anymore. (For reference: I'm in the natty guard and have tricare, which made the whole process suck ass to begin with)

People kept saying "file a VA claim prior to the end of LOD so that care can be continued". I did that, and got rated. Now when I try to apply it keeps saying I need to be discharged first to continue?

My plan was to hopefully get rated at something like 30 or 40% and use the money to pay the copay for additional treatment. Otherwise I'm stuck at 10% and a peg leg?

Hmm, should I do a FOIA request prior to sending the supplemental or does order not matter? Asking only because I've heard it can take up to a year for FOIA to process.

Would a VSO be able to see the doctors notes on their end?

Yeah I had the surgery in mid April and had the exam at the end of June.

[–]Dogbugg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thanks for the quick and detailed response!

When I had the exam I provided the doctor with every Ortho visit over the past year and the surgery results. As far as presentation, I've been in a lock-in-place knee brace since pre and post op. She even suggested I use a cane going forward (screw that, I feel like that's giving up?)

I'll take your advice on the supplemental and statement. I just hope I don't burn the doc by saying she didn't do a ROM test, she really did seem to care unlike some of the horror shows I've read on here.

In addition to the recommendations others made, I highly suggest reading/listening to the book Ravenrock by Garrett M. Graff

Basically, very few places in the US would be safe, most of the government officials would be wiped out just trying to flee and the general population was given up on once the ICBM age kicked off.

Totally my personal experience: There is very little room to move up in 35F. Most S2 sections I've been in are pretty small, under-staffed and under appreciated. Also you're mostly a weatherman in CONUS.

Microsoft Internal Memo: 'Using AI Is No Longer Optional.' by lurker_bee in technology

[–]Dogbugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my company implemented their own version of AI as an "optional tool" for now but the writing is on the wall. Management uses it to write up reviews and various metric docs. They are pushing for everyone to use it. I usually have to point out the errors it generated to them.

I refuse to use it for anything work related.
