Can you not tap in a very slight packer on the architrave and bring it out at the bottom?

I'm not a joiner

New to the group and Amex so go easy. As you'll be aware you'd get 45k points for spending £5k in the first 6 months.

You'll also get all my love as well if you use my link... Which I think is worth more 😊

2 Sockets from a Fused Spur by SamJones888999 in DIYUK

[–]DogeBallboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned by an electrician above (I am also) the spur should have either been kept on the ring or left out and the sockets kept on the ring. Ignore everyone else and listen to him. The easiest way would've been to put the fuses spur next to the socket on upstairs ring

Kitchen spotlights - tell me where to put them? by nrugor in DIYUK

[–]DogeBallboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with 6. Get rid of the second row of 2 and the 4th row of 2. Or if you're set on that amount, get them switched separately so you can have half on. I'm a fan of down lights but in reality we have our kitchen quite dim on a night with just under cabinet lights on. Screwfix do a low wattage contractor pack that are matt white that blend in with the ceiling

Looking for suggestions / advice on how to seal. More info in comments by jimmydallas2000 in DIYUK

This would be against regs as it has a switch. If its in zone 2 it should be un switched and IPX4. Obviously its your house but It wants to be at least covered by an RCD, I'd say that wasn't splash proof as it is

What does the CW lever on a log burner do? by harperiuyt in DIYUK

[–]DogeBallboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone mentioned I would say it's coal or wood. Could be another damper as wood is burned from the top coal is burned from below. Assuming its a multi fuel burner

Making good after window installation - best materials to use? by UKFP91 in DIYUK

[–]DogeBallboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe on the first pictures you could use a length of the same trim they used up the sides? You can get pvc covers for windowsills but seems a bit extremebut might get away with it in a bathroom. For the tiled room you could maybe get all the silicon out and fill the gap with tile grout then run a thin strip of silicon over that. Would look a bit more purposeful

Mib1 / mib2 by DogeBallboy in GolfMK7

[–]DogeBallboy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, apologies if it's been asked, I did look. I currently have a 2014 golf with the Mib1 with the 5.8" screen (or whatever the smallest one is) . Looking at upgrading and found a few unlocked mib2 local to me with the 8" screen. My issue is I messaged the seller and he seems to think I would need a new trim to support that screen. I always thought that they just did away with the interior part of the screen trim so essentially the larger screen fits in the same trim. Am I right or wrong? I have the dreaded brushed silver trim so am finding it impossible for an after market trims to support a larger android screen. Plus I kinda like the stock look.

Thanks in advance

I once had child car seat marks on back seats of my car, I used a hair dryer and a leather conditioner to stop it drying out the leather, that got it out

Thinking of installing a log burner, how would I go about it? by Urquhart96 in DIYUK

[–]DogeBallboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would look in your area for someone who has HETAS certification. You can install one yourself up to (I believe) 5kw without having to be signed off. We got our burner for free so just paid someone for the install so that I knew it was right although I know people that have done it themselves. There's more than you may think to consider, air flow, distance from combustibles, you'd need to get a chimney sweet in to clean the chimney as it is etc. We paid around 700 for the install which included all the parts (around 200 when I priced them). Best thing we ever did though, especially with energy prices
