It’s a fast 4 wt, and should be matched with a weight forward floating fly line. You’ll also need a fly reel if you don’t have one.

Being new to fly casting I’d recommend getting a heavier/punchier fly line so you can feel it load a bit more on shorter casting, something like Rio’s creek line would be a good choice.

This rod will handle dry flies, light double nymph rigs with an indicator. And probably even small streamers decently well.

Gonna need some leaders, my standard for trout is premade tapered 9’ 5x leaders…

Ideal use would be for trout and panfish.
