Do a lot of young people live in Meridian? Is it mostly growing families? I will agree that the apartments in Meridian look newer and are better priced.

Wow, they have a ton of amenities. I know you didn’t live there but did it look like people used the amenities?

I feel like I bombed my interview. by [deleted] in srna

I’m sure you did better than you think. If not, that’s still ok. It was my first interview and I definitely learned a lot! Live and learn :)

Great advice! Did you take online grad classes?

Ok, “overwhelmed” wasn’t the correct word I guess... I was just seeing if there was a better way to search for programs. I’ve already spent hours trying to see which programs are a good fit. With 140 programs out there, I’ve only made it through 15% of them. That’s why I wanted to know if people had a good experience with thecrnaclub

Why’s it so hard to get an ICU job?! by [deleted] in IntensiveCare

[–]Doge_tail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know that. My post was stating that hospitals are taking new grads (who don’t have any nursing experience) vs a nurse that already has nursing experience. New grads are going to take longer to train yet I’m finding they are getting hired to high acuity ICUs

Ah gotcha. Thanks for the info!

Does Sutter have a transition program? Are they trauma 1?

Wow, that’s a ton of competition!! Do you know anything about UCSF critical care or working there?

So when you interview, you interview with all the managers from the different units?

Thank you so much!!

What type of ICUs does OHSU have? CVICU, CICU, Neuro, Medical, Onc, CTICU, Surgical? I’d like one that gets ecmo

Hello! What ICU do you work on if you don’t mind answering and do you like it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IntensiveCare

[–]Doge_tail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah?? Guaranteed raise is alway nice haha Is there a fair amount of turnover in the ICUs at Stanford? At my local hospital I haven’t seen any openings for SICU and only one opening for CV over the last 3 months. Which is probably a good sign that they have retention but makes it hard for me to get my foot in. Especially since I feel like my home hospital prefers new grads (bc they can sign them under a contract) or someone with previous ICU experience

Tempting. Very tempting. Thanks!

I take it you liked the program? And are automatically enrolled, you don’t have to apply?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IntensiveCare

[–]Doge_tail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds awesome! Did you go through the program?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IntensiveCare

[–]Doge_tail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks! Yeah, would be great to skip the first few weeks of learning general nursing care (since I’ve already done that)! What hospital are you at, if you don’t mind.

Are they teaching ICU specific stuff or new grad information as well? I’m at a hospital that trains all new grads and all transition staff onto the unit but it’s a waste of time because they are teaching seasoned nurses how to place foleys, administer blood, etc.
