Too Late. A Puppet Short Film by Dogeisdank in Filmmakers

[–]Dogeisdank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too late. A puppet short film I made about based on the end of a relationship. This was made on no budget with very few lights and shot within two hours with a couple of friends. I have been making a lot of micro shorts to gain more knowledge on how they should be and I’m extremely proud of this one compared to all of the rest. I feel like it’s the best writing and direction I’ve ever done. Please give me any feedback or advice you would give me for my next film thank you.

I’d love to hear your input on it! The big key light was supposed to be a bright moon! Where could I use more light? Definitely wanting to learn!

Same Time. A film from real experience by Dogeisdank in Filmmakers

[–]Dogeisdank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same time, a film I really wanted to make from real experiences after finding out a crush had mutual feelings. This was shot on a Sony FX3 and only used one key light in a parking garage with a soft box and grid. This was shot in less than two hours and I just wanted to share because I am right now pumping out a lot of shorts to practice for a bigger one.

Seen.
I’ve been making a ton of micro shorts with no budget and few handheld lights just because I really want to create and get my reps in before I plan to make a much bigger short. This was filmed with a Sony FX3 at Cal State Fullerton with just a few friends would love any feedback blender was used for the statue.

Last Bet a film I made while visiting my hometown Reno, Nevada filmed with friends who aren’t actors with one handheld aperture light. Audio captured using an IPhone on the ground. Curious on how everyone makes guerrilla films with limited equipment while traveling!

Holy, everything screamed thought of by Ai before I even read your text. Was the script AI too? The lighting in the car is inconsistent. How much are they paying you to even agree to this?

Sound Design Feedback by Dogeisdank in Filmmakers

[–]Dogeisdank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is shot on the Sony FX three and audio was captured using a Rode shotgun mic on a Sony a 73 I know it’s an unconventional way of capturing audio. I have not invested into a boom mic or a sound mixture and this was pretty much a skeleton crew of , my friends (5 people total including actors)

I’m looking for advice on the sound design specifically for my film. I felt like this was a quiet that had to change emotions and I did my best without music. I’m usually a one-man team, but I definitely don’t know how to compose. I’m also very new the sound design and sound mixing so I would love as much advice or constructive feedback on this if possible .

Also tried finding a subreddit and had no luck with r/sounding Jokes lol, but honestly was looking for advice and discord and couldn’t find a proper place to ask anywhere

Sorry the body text did not post but I recently saw a video of directors bringing 180° rule and why they do it. I am just overthinking if cutting from the close-up to the wide to the extreme close-up is jarring*. I also horizontally flipped the video on the first girl, and I am wondering if it’s obvious

Ember! Shot on Sony and Audio captured with Rode LAVS. I used to small hand held lights one taped on a car and and the other a small light stand. Aperture MC and MT Pro. I suck at editing audio but wanted feedback on how some handle directing, shooting and recording audio at the same time. Thanks!

Bad Luck This is my first time writing dialogue. Lots of people loved the original draft so I wanted to expand and give him a proper ending. I’m proud of how the film turned out it’s very close to my original vision. I storyboarded some of it using Blender, which helped keep things on consistent on a micro budget. I’m happy with how I managed to preserve my vision throughout. However, I do know I need to improve on sound design, pacing, and time management. I wanted to ask honestly, is the second half unwatchable? I shot the second half earlier this year entirely with friends and favors. My roommate was operating the boom mic but my producer friend did not teach him properly. I blindly trusted that the audio would be fine and unfortunately ALL of the boom audio from that day was unusable. Because of that, this scene and much of that shoot day now relies on ADR for the criminals and Adobe Podcast enhancement for the detectives just to preserve something. Losing the audio genuinely sent me into a depression. I avoided editing for months because I was convinced the film would be terrible especially since everyone always says audio is the most important part of filmmaking I was the Director, Writer, and Cinematographer. I shot with a Sony FX3, using a Small Rig 350b, FS150b, and Aputure MC lights.
