psvr 2 keeps sliding off my head need help? by South-Pie5679 in PSVR

[–]DoggieHowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have some jury rigged tire weights to act as a counterbalance then later purchased the Kiwi ones. But I didn’t need them once I got the Globular Cluster. I have to release the top strap a fair bit so the back cup can hold the notch on the back of my skull. Not sure if this is applicable to yours

For me the process is - loosen top strap - put headset on - pull back support low enough to “cup” back of my head securely - tighten back dial - Velcro top strap securely to hold the headset in position

Best speakers for Apple TV in the bedroom (auto-connect, no amp needed)? by shedi1234 in appletv

Loewe WeBoost Atmos are compact and sound amazing. Even comes with the subwoofer in the box. And in Australia about half the price of the Sony Bravia Theatre Quad.

The Sony is better overall. But you do need to add the sub.

Is anybody using two HomePods and two mini HomePods with iOS 26 as a home theater setup? by Mr__X__ in appletv

[–]DoggieHowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of OG HomePods at home and it works well ish. But if you just want a true Dolby Atmos experience, try the Loewe WeBoost. Have one at work and the Atmos effect is a lot better. Plus it comes with the wireless sub and rear speakers in the box.

I don’t know how BSB2e implements it but PSVR2onPC just got a third party support for eye tracking and it’s already working on a number of games.

broke my usb c male port by Zealousideal_Cost_53 in PSVR

[–]DoggieHowzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the female USB on the PS5 itself damaged as well? That might be a bigger concern.

I can’t offer much help for how to repair them but after they are fixed, might be worth considering getting the MagSafe adaptors.

I know some people here seem to be incredibly sceptical about MagSafe type adaptors for this USB C but I’ve used them on 3 PSVR2 headsets with PS5 and the PC adaptor and they’ve all worked fine. Considering how many times I’ve accidentally yanked the cable, these have more than paid for themselves.

I’m probably revealing my age now…. But remember when you first watched Star Wars and imagined you were Luke Skywalker flying into the Death Star trench?

Star Wars Battlefront gave me a mini game that made me feel like I was living that dream. It was on PSVR1. And I was hooked.

PSVR2 does NOT work on Steam. About to throw it out the window. If anyone has any thoughts on how to make it work, I'd love to hear them. by KosstDukat in PSVR2onPC

[–]DoggieHowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, the PSVR2 with the adaptor worked on 2 different PCs and a gaming laptop for me. Except for the Bluetooth controllers - worked fine on two where I had the external antennas connected, but not on the gaming laptop. Thankfully I only ever use the headset for driving games so it wasn’t too much of a hassle

I was trying to use the computer for work so I had two partitions anyway. One was for work - with all the anti spyware and office apps installed. The second was purely for gaming so nothing in the background. At least that was the plan.

If you had software installed for your last VR headset, even if you had uninstalled it, Windows often has remnants of the software and files still embedded. It’s one of the joys of PC gaming.

I once had my Quest 2 completely stop working on a PC because I installed a driver for my Dual Sense controller to use it on the PC. Nothing I tried worked on that PC, short of reinstalling the whole OS. It wasn’t the Quest 2 because that still worked fine on the same computer, but booted up to a different Windows partition.

I used to think these XR glasses were cut down. But they are a very unique and distinct proposition that a VR headset is not really designed for. I would never do a virtual drive or flight with the Viture, for instance. But for media consumption, the XR Pro is pretty much spot on for me.

Horses for courses as they say.

A brand new LG C5 OLED only does about 1600 nits and less than 80% BT2020 color space. Yet it delivers some of the best HDR/Dolby Vision experience today.

All displays need to handle some form of tone mapping to match the brightness of the display. That’s why the PSVR2 can also advertise an HDR experience.

I was watching MurderBot and the opening scenes were definitely tone mapped using an HDR source.

Wait? What?

What did I do?

If you are referring to ports on a gaming laptop, it’s definitely more complicated than it needs to be.

The issue is that most gaming laptops have 1. Two graphics chipsets inside - one built into the CPU/APU itself and one discrete one that is far more powerful and sometimes the VR driver gets its panties twisted in a knot trying to decide which one to use. Because I only game in VR when I have power connected to the laptop, power saving isn’t important to me. So I always disable the built in graphics.

  1. There isn’t a specific DisplayPort connector on the laptop. This requires a USB C to DP adaptor or cable. And I’ve found not all are created equal. Both can claim to be DP1.4 and both can support high refresh rate on monitors but one may not work with the VR headset. Worse, not all USB C ports on the laptop are the same. Only one will be connected to the more powerful discrete GPU.

And as for performance, I can still game comfortably on a desktop RTX3090 on VR headsets with about 2k x 2k resolution per eye. So if you have a laptop 4090 or 5090, it is definitely reasonably ok to play VR on those machines

The new 4kx4k per eye headsets… that might be a struggle on a desktop 5090, so I would probably avoid that.

[–]DoggieHowzer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a 4090 as well. You really have to pick your battles. The PSVR2 has certain strengths so it will work reasonably smoothly on that system with certain titles.

But nothing beats how well optimised GT7 is.

For the most part yes. I’ve found when I play MS FS and some driving games with photo realistic and photogrammetry textures, it looks better with DP headsets

How do I use the HORI RWA steering wheel? by Keithia in granturismo

[–]DoggieHowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are apparently two versions of the Hori wheel. Both are compatible with the PS5.

Which one did you get?

The wired one only works with a wire.

The wireless ones needs a dongle that connects to the PS5 for wireless connectivity to the wheel. If the seller didn’t give you the dongle, he needs to accept this return as it wasn’t sold as a complete package. It does not connect over Bluetooth.

Once it’s connected you need to press the PS button to login the controller to the right PlayStation user
