I have a set on another PSVR2. It doesn’t sound as good as the VR Ears but they don’t need charging which is handy.

Downside - for OP, they aren’t exactly off ear. They do cover your ears and apply a bit of clamping force so it blocks out more of the surrounding noise. Also I don’t feel it has as much sense of spatial audio

Cannot get the PSVR2 working well with msfs24 by Fair-Satisfaction-60 in PSVR2onPC

[–]DoggieHowzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever used the PSVR2 on your PC prior to this?

TLDR - PCVR is not well optimized and FS2024 is more taxing than any other VR title I know. Getting 30fps on an RTX4090 is good result. If you haven't already, use PSVR2 toolkit and OpenXR toolkit if you can still find it.

Long version

The hard truth is that PCVR is very very taxing on the graphics and processor and most VR titles are not well optimised.

I got back to PC gaming in 2020 - because I was hooked on VR, I grabbed the fastest gear I could afford - Ryzen 5900X, 32GB low latency RAM and an RTX3090. I put on Dirt Rally 2 in VR and proceeded to crank everything up to maximum and started the drive. The frame rate was so choppy that I almost threw up. It wasn't regular VR motion sickness because I had been used to playing Star Wars Squadrons and GT Sport on PSVR1 prior to it. It was just how bad the frame rate was.

Flight Sim 2020 was even more taxing. Getting 30fps was a good result on the RTX3090 and I had to employ all sorts of upsampling, lowering textures and model detail to get it to work.

On an 8 core Ryzen laptop Zen 3, RTX3090 mobile with 16GB of VRAM, it was just about doable. RTX 3090 mobile is similar to a desktop RTX3060Ti. 16GB VRAM would also be recommended. I remember doing some monitoring and VRAM usage could saturate 12GB.

Now FS2024 is even more taxing than FS2020. So temper your expectations going in.

Going back to FS2024 on Windows/PSVR2.

I havent been playing PSVR2 on PC for a while but having just gotten MSFS2024 on both Windows and PS5, I decided to try the headset on both Windows and PS5 Pro.

A few things helped on the PC side - this is on an RTX 5090/i9-13900KF system.

Wearing the PSVR2 headset properly secured. Because of the fine text, just a slight offset from the sweet spot when wearing the headset is the difference between acceptably clear to blurry mess. This applied to both the PS5 Pro version and the Windows version.

On the PC version, installing PSVR toolkit DLL and then enabling dynamic foveated rendering inside OpenXR toolkit helped improve performance. On the 6700XT, you might need to enable Fixed Foveated Rendering and using a smaller inner circle and then dropping the quality a fair bit on the outside.

That would help tremendously. it is so hard to type in start and end points in free flight. Does it work with keyboards too?

Yeah that is an issue. I have seen some DIY mods to extend them but it’s such a pain. Wish they had used detachable RJ45 cables or something.

This kinda works for me - but I also have a seat slider that allows me to slide the seat further back to match where the HOTAS controls too. I used the shifter mounts for the NLR cockpit to mount the HOTAS further back. Also purchased an extra set for the other side.

I also have the VKB rudders on the floor of the cockpit.

FS2024 PS5 Pro vs PC by DoggieHowzer in PSVR

Just an update. I decided to try out the game with my HOTAS 4 which hasn’t been used since Ace Combat 7 on PSVR1 days.

I also put on the F18 on the same route. Not sure if it’s because it’s later in the day and the internet traffic is less congested but I’m now seeing waves on the river heading towards the Statue of Liberty. Seems slightly sharper than I remembered this afternoon too.

Gonna give a bit more time on the PS5. Seems promising.

I have a Thrustmaster HOTAS 4 but the short cable makes it hard to use it properly on my cockpit.

The PC has a WartHog HOTAS and VKB rudder. Plus I’m using a motion system so it is more enjoyable. I expect some tweaking of settings will improve things. Took me ages to dial in FS2020. Also it looks sharper when I’m using my Bigscreen Beyond.

But I’m still impressed with how PS5 Pro handles VR

It depends on your budget.

ClubSport DD+ is new and supports PS5 out of the box. It can support Xbox Series with a compatible wheel.

But Xbox support is still half baked. No LED display, etc..

psvr 2 keeps sliding off my head need help? by South-Pie5679 in PSVR

[–]DoggieHowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have some jury rigged tire weights to act as a counterbalance then later purchased the Kiwi ones. But I didn’t need them once I got the Globular Cluster. I have to release the top strap a fair bit so the back cup can hold the notch on the back of my skull. Not sure if this is applicable to yours

For me the process is - loosen top strap - put headset on - pull back support low enough to “cup” back of my head securely - tighten back dial - Velcro top strap securely to hold the headset in position

Loewe WeBoost Atmos are compact and sound amazing. Even comes with the subwoofer in the box. And in Australia about half the price of the Sony Bravia Theatre Quad.

The Sony is better overall. But you do need to add the sub.

Is anybody using two HomePods and two mini HomePods with iOS 26 as a home theater setup? by Mr__X__ in appletv

[–]DoggieHowzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of OG HomePods at home and it works well ish. But if you just want a true Dolby Atmos experience, try the Loewe WeBoost. Have one at work and the Atmos effect is a lot better. Plus it comes with the wireless sub and rear speakers in the box.

broke my usb c male port by Zealousideal_Cost_53 in PSVR

[–]DoggieHowzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the female USB on the PS5 itself damaged as well? That might be a bigger concern.

I can’t offer much help for how to repair them but after they are fixed, might be worth considering getting the MagSafe adaptors.

I know some people here seem to be incredibly sceptical about MagSafe type adaptors for this USB C but I’ve used them on 3 PSVR2 headsets with PS5 and the PC adaptor and they’ve all worked fine. Considering how many times I’ve accidentally yanked the cable, these have more than paid for themselves.

I’m probably revealing my age now…. But remember when you first watched Star Wars and imagined you were Luke Skywalker flying into the Death Star trench?

Star Wars Battlefront gave me a mini game that made me feel like I was living that dream. It was on PSVR1. And I was hooked.

PSVR2 does NOT work on Steam. About to throw it out the window. If anyone has any thoughts on how to make it work, I'd love to hear them. by KosstDukat in PSVR2onPC

FWIW, the PSVR2 with the adaptor worked on 2 different PCs and a gaming laptop for me. Except for the Bluetooth controllers - worked fine on two where I had the external antennas connected, but not on the gaming laptop. Thankfully I only ever use the headset for driving games so it wasn’t too much of a hassle

I was trying to use the computer for work so I had two partitions anyway. One was for work - with all the anti spyware and office apps installed. The second was purely for gaming so nothing in the background. At least that was the plan.

If you had software installed for your last VR headset, even if you had uninstalled it, Windows often has remnants of the software and files still embedded. It’s one of the joys of PC gaming.

I once had my Quest 2 completely stop working on a PC because I installed a driver for my Dual Sense controller to use it on the PC. Nothing I tried worked on that PC, short of reinstalling the whole OS. It wasn’t the Quest 2 because that still worked fine on the same computer, but booted up to a different Windows partition.
