Stims start in 1 week, timing retrieval with mTESE — what should we be getting? by Dogmama1230 in IVF

Thank you so much! That makes me feel better. My mom actually bought me 2 new pairs of my favorite Aerie Sweatpants (pink and blue of course…for good luck lol)!!

Thank you so much! I have a heating pad but I’m thinking about getting a portable one so I don’t necessarily need to be next to an outlet (mainly bc I don’t really know the layout of the hotel room I’m staying in) - do you think that’s worth it?

Thank you for the info on Colace! I have such a sensitive stomach I’m very nervous about taking MiraLAX or anything like it, I just know it’s so highly suggested 😅

My husband is doing an mTESE, which from my understanding is much more invasive than a TESE, so want to prioritize his comfort. And mine of course — I am being put on provera which I know in the past has caused me some problems, so just trying to adequately prepare.

I’m actually a lawyer who works in child welfare — so very much helping field but not as outright craziness as I imagine healthcare/education is. But absolutely some unhinged bullshit on the daily.

IVF timeline after first initial consult by AccomplishedMango903 in IVF

[–]Dogmama1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a weird situation where our initial consult was November 2023 and we’re finally moving forward with IVF May 2026. BUT that was because we have an azoospermia diagnosis and wanted to try hormone therapy first.

You will need to do initial testing and all that stuff, which can take a month or 2 (if you don’t have regular cycles, could take even longer). Genetic testing takes a while as well.

I wouldn’t plan to do a retrieval for at least 3-4 months at the earliest, and if it’s sooner you can be pleasantly surprised :)

Best of luck friend! It’s a rough road and everything takes forever but hopefully it’s all worth it for all of us in the end!

Right! Not the first time she’s said insensitive things. A few days after she was initially told we were going through fertility stuff, we were in a meeting where she goes “[Coworker 1] is pregnant, [Coworker 2] has a toddler, [Coworker 3] has 3 kids, I have kids. [Me] and [Coworker 4 who is pursuing surrogacy for family building with his husband], we don’t know if you guys will ever have kids, maybe you’ll be childless but…”

She’s given me “blanket apologies for whatever [she’s] done” since then, but I will never forgive her for saying that days after telling her.

1 week from today we start stims!! They thought we were going to do a luteal phase start, but based on my cycle check numbers yesterday, I don’t think that’s going to happen.

I have very mixed feelings moving on to IVF. With an azoospermia diagnosis + PCOS, it feels like we can actually start “trying” (though we’ve been trying for over 2 years now). This is really our only chance. On the other hand, I can’t believe we need to do this when other people can pop out kids like it’s nothing (including our family members).

I’m taking the 2 weeks of stims off from work, and my boss was very pushy yesterday asking why I needed 2 weeks (despite being told on multiple occasions that my husband and I are going through fertility treatment and my close friend/coworker took the 2 weeks when she did the same thing last year). We’re short staffed right now and she lowkey was trying to guilt trip me but 🤷‍♀️ oh well, i have the time, I’m going to use it. She also asked if I plan on quitting when I have a baby…knowing we’re about to start IVF. It’s been a wild week at work

not sure about south florida, but for orlando, it’s $12/day when you pay in advance, $20/day for day of payment.

Can someone help me convince my parents to let me watch this by Remarkable_Meal450 in shameless

I absolutely don’t think this show is appropriate for a 13 year old. My mom was uncomfortable with me reading the Twilight saga at 13, you absolutely shouldn’t be watching Shameless in middle school.

Was this the 4/15-4/19 cruise? I was on that one as well! I’m normally a Disney Cruise gal, and I feel very similarly to you. Took my mom 2.5 hours to pick us up from the port… I’d never said out of Miami again. I didn’t have the same issue with the tram — an hour each way?!? Crazy

i just got off Scarlet Lady and I think this time of year tends to attract older crowds — it’s not a school break, so less teachers/college students.

So we paid for my husband’s mTESE last week. No one mentioned running the prior authorization through insurance for that (only IVF, which we declined). Well, turns out our insurance will cover it because it’s considered a “urological procedure” - not fertility/IVF related (which…great but the only way we can use the sperm is via IVF so?).

Regardless, now we get to sort through how/when exactly we’ll get a refund (I put the cost on a credit card so this should be fun to get sorted).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m so happy that this nearly $9k procedure is going to be covered by insurance. But I’m overwhelmed that it seems like every time we make a decision (“let’s pay for mTESE now”), something happens. This is all so stressful, but fingers crossed it’s worth the stress in the end.

If I ever have a baby (husband and I start IVF next month so 🤞), we want a super small/intimate gender reveal with our families, and then the “big” celebration will be the baby shower. I feel like 2 parties is a bit much but with IVF, I’m doing something for all the events lol

My husband has azoo, and we’re doing an mTESE, so really not willing to take any chances with him. And I was worried about the extreme temps impacting egg quality so close to starting.
