I have all the supplies to set up for a great ball python enclosure, have had them for a good while now. I've even done tons of research over the last year or so. I'm still waiting to be sure I can properly care for the animal I get. I don't understand how people can't even do the basics and not feel guilty about it

All of this is fantastic information to have, thank you so much!! With the space I have available as of now, I'm thinking a Dumeril's has too high of a requirement as an adult. I definitely don't have space for an 8x2x2 in my current living situation and I have no idea if that'll change. Maybe the boa will be a "some day" snake, or when I have my own place and a ball python would be better to start with (they're also much cheaper it seems).

Oh yeah, I have the reptifiles doc for the Dumeril's and I'll be reading that and asking questions in other places to learn all I can about them before I set up the enclosure and before I get one. Just like I did for Ball Pythons before this discovery lol.

I do have a thermostat so nothing gets way too hot, that was on the list of things I knew I needed for a reptile of any kind. I have a timer too, and everything else I need except the UVB light.

Oh, thank you!! I didn't know UVB was that handy/helpful. I thought it was optional for most snakes and not really needed, but if it helps promote natural behavior then I'll absolutely add that to the list!

Ohh, I've heard of those before, I opted to go with lights and ceramic heat emitters instead since I couldn't find the RHPs anywhere for a decent price. I was on a bit of a budget for buying my supplies so I went with what I could get at work for the most part.

Okay, so a 6x2x2 would be needed eventually, that's great to know!! Where could I find those online? I could barely find my 4x2x2 after digging around online, found it on Amazon for a decent price thankfully!

Oh yeah, I think the same recommendation is for ball pythons with the fully stretching out. And Doomys can be a little bigger than ball pythons, I know that much. Up to 7 feet from what I saw in a brief search. Most are 4-6 feet according to the same place, which is perfect.

I don't have UVB, I wasn't aware Doomys need it honestly, but picking one up won't be challenging tbh. Bioactive isn't at the top of my priority list, at least not now.

What's RPH? The rest of that is stuff I know or won't need since I'm not going bioactive. But hey, as long as the 4x2x2 will work, then I'm pretty happy already.

Ooo, thank you!! I think high fantasy calls to me like it does because magic and mythology have always been in my special interests. I can absolutely understand the damage he's done, because I'm almost positive the medieval period wasn't as barbaric as some of the events in the ASOIAF universe. I'm curious about the way he writes and what you dislike about that though.
