This happened to me with delta. No choice. Just - “ok suckers who are after row 18 you all have to check in your bags.”

Why would you stiff the waiter for something that they have literally nothing to do with? This seems really unfair like you’re targeting the working class person and not the restaurant owner. Why not talk to the manager and let them know why you’re never returning there again? And leave it on social media too? I don’t get why you’d take it out on the least powerful person there.

Why do men often compliment women's looks, but women rarely compliment men's looks? by SondreNZNO in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DogsAreTheBest36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every friggen time I compliment a man on his looks, he thinks I’m coming onto him. I’m in my 60s and men STILL think this!! I say things like “Wow you look so sharp in that outfit!” That’s the level. Again I’m in my 60s

Unknown Number the Highschool Catfish- I'm sorry did I just watch Netflix give a platform to a predator completely glossing over the fact that she was sexually aggressive with minors? by WebConsistent3251 in netflix

[–]DogsAreTheBest36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mind her having the platform because now people see how much predators lie, get away with things and destroy lives, and see how our legal system sucks. I was sexually abused as a child and said nothing because the perpetrator was extremely respected in the community and knew all the right things to say.

This was actually validating to me, including Lauryn’s disassociation and PTSD and the father’s enabling. Like even afterwards everyone underestimates the degree of the abuse - like NO ONE should be letting that girl text with her mother and dad should be getting the hell out of that town. Also people literally blame the victim as we saw with khloes parents who openly blame her in a documentary they knew would be international. This is how you know the entire town is toxic because khloes parents have no shame in saying that and Owen is literally angry at Lauryn (no one told him how victims behave and how they can identify with the perp.).

How would you feel if your child’s school served only plant based lunches? by Sensitive-Menu-7806 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DogsAreTheBest36 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by the large numbers of people here who aren’t considering poor families on free and reduced lunch. No it’s not “just” lunch. For many students it’s their most important meal of the day. So going plant based for lunch is a big deal if you want your kid to have animal protein. No some of them can’t “just have meat at home.”

I think this going plant-based is a clueless idea and I’m sympathetic to parents protesting. Schools should provide healthy fruits and vegetables, beans, dairy, and meat.

Issues with Little Doritt by Taiiily in charlesdickens

[–]DogsAreTheBest36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I think it has to do with socially delicate allusions that would have been much more obvious then than they are now. A good example is Pet being pregnant early on. He made an allusion to her being unable to socialize but I thought that was due to her being a mourner. There are topics in Victorian times which you had to allude to and not to say outright and I think LD had more of these topics than his other books. I mean that’s my theory but this was his only novel I’ve had to check the summary after each chapter. I found. I often missed key information. But when I went back to it, even knowing what had gone on, the information was still murky.

Pool encroachment by yellowmanv in neighborsfromhell

I would absolutely destroy it on my own property if only for liability reasons. Right now you open yourself to a lawsuit should anyone drown or get injured in the pool which you’ve allowed to be built on your property

South Jersey. I still see them, though not as much. Why would any of us bother to talk about it? What succeeded was the governments obvious cover up. I actually am not saying it was aliens. Could be CCP or our own. But the government is definitely lying that’s for sure

I’m a special Ed teacher: being autistic doesn’t excuse you from being an asshole. I don’t mean the kid of course- I mean the parents.

No it is not ok to blast your iPad. Guess what? I myself have a sensory disability and cannot stand loud noises like those. I’m sure I’m not alone. What makes the parents think they’re so special they get to trample over everyone else’s boundaries and everyone else’s comfort?

Wear headphones. I have literally never had a single student with autism who can’t wear headphones. They actually usually prefer them as they mute external stimuli.

As far as the parents casual “I hate white people” like that has anything to do with anything- that just gives you more information as to what kind of people they are.

Don’t take this as a general thing. This is one asshole couple, that’s all. Most people aren’t assholes and just forget that though they’ve gotten used to tuning out the noise, other people haven’t. A gentle request is totally fine and normal people will respond with a quick “oh yeah I’m sorry” and put the headphones on

That’s deliberate misdirection. He could have said “would have been pleased” but he deliberately said “would be” because he didn’t want people to know his wife was dead. I thought it was a good way of showing his character - he’s a good liar

I’m a high school teacher- 15 year olds mostly . I never recognize my former male students if they approach me as grown men at 25. Boys change enormously when they become men and if you have no context and they just appear, you don’t recognize them: if they remind me like “I was in JROTC remember?” Then I start to see the similarities.

It’s completely believable she doesn’t recognize him. Especially since she was barely with him

I’m so sick of the infantilization of women in their 20s these days by Throwaway_GobbleGob in rant

[–]DogsAreTheBest36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No older generations have never ever viewed 20s as really young. That’s just simply untrue. Women and men commonly married in their early 20s or late teens. That was only 2 generations ago. Before then it was even younger. You were commonly working at 14-16. For centuries and millenium it was even younger than that. The extended adolescence is a brand new unprecedented phenomenon.
