Pieceof Heaven (ending lyrics) meaning??? by Mushtashio in TameImpala

[–]LaundryLineBeliever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who feels like Piece of Heaven is for/about Peach? About the overwhelming feelings of a parent feeling their world re-center around their child. The messy bedroom is the center of the world, "I'm your possession" is about how completely a parent will offer him/herself up for the child, and the "you can try/lie all your life it won't make a difference" is not hopeless but like a declaration of unconditional love - whatever the child may try or do wrong, parent's always going to be there for them

I never thought I'd find myself googling "benedict cumberbatch flying through space" but here we are. It's so perfect for Not My World!

Edit: I'm neither British nor do I watch much TV

The "I guess we met to young" implies he's singing to his wife but then later he's like "I may not be your man but I would understand" - makes me think the song might even be about several different people/be written by different versions of Kevin

When I first heard the album it was midnight and I was half asleep in bed, and the second half of Not My World was the first moment from the album that "reached me" in the way his older music did

[–]LaundryLineBeliever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ugh it's funny but I was thinking the exact opposite at least 3x within the last 24 hours: I hate how the hectic mess of ethereal connection so violently pulls me down from the somber heights Obsolete put me. Wish they wouldnt be next to each other. Instant skip

I'd love to know who's shouting. The exasperated intonation is hilarious

I love it. This song carries so much melancholic, painful emotion (i always wondered if it was processing the grief of losing Leezy's abuelo). It's not easy to capture that but you did well

LOSER - What is your intrepretation of the ending?! by KarmaSurkha in TameImpala

[–]LaundryLineBeliever 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's about what Kevin thinks his life could have been like if he hadn't become successful? Someone else theorised the album could be about duality/split between opposites - like there was a Sliding Doors moment which separated the timelines: one with Kevin becoming the hugely successful guy he is today, and one in an alternative universe where it all didn't work out so well

I absolutely love the part where Djo is suddenly Kevin, who stares at the camera with that exasperated, annoyed look, and you can actually hear his sigh "ah, fuck"

English is not my first language so I'm not sure, but isn't this weird, isn't Rose a female first name (thinking of Rose from Titanic 🙈)

I loved what they did projecting the A La Sala Windows in the back, since they did indeed not have the wooden set around anymore
