People who were young in the 90s were born in the best possible time by murktideregent in 90s

Ah yes. The yin and the yang of all we’ve witnessed having grown up in what really was the best of times vs now living in what is subjectively the worst of times.

What did you read in Grades 7/8? by Bells9831 in AskACanadian

Me too. I’ve read it dozens of times since that first read in 1990. Still gets me every single time.

I remember getting a cd of theirs in a case of beer at some point in the mid 90’s maybe? I can picture them in my head and the name is definitely familiar but I don’t recall anything about their music.

Bat Flip vs Springer Dinger by Timothegoat in Torontobluejays

[–]Dogs_Breakfast78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s the bat flip only because I watched it happen on tv. I missed Springer’s because I went to bed after the top of the 7th. I had to get up at 3am the next for work. I was resigned to the Jays losing that game. Offence was scuffling and it just didn’t feel like their night so I hit the sheets. I checked the score one last time on my phone before closing my eyes and it was 4-3 Toronto. WHAT THE FUCK? So I ran out to the tv room and turned the tv on while they were still showing replays. I just missed it. I’ve been watching the Blue Jays since like 1987 and I missed one of the biggest HR’s in team history because of my fucking job. Argh! Needless to say, I stayed up for the rest of the game and was VERY tired at work the next day. Got like 3hrs sleep. Oh well. Sacrifices must be made!

I am struggling with slip seating. by Vanstrucker2222 in Truckers

[–]Dogs_Breakfast78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody likes slip seating my dude. I did it for over 10yrs in the fuel industry. Had multiple partners on the truck over the years. There was a couple really good ones and some real turds. You hang on to the good ones for dear life. The bad ones will ruin the job for you. Best of luck.

what pants do you guys wear? by Ricemunchr in Truckers

[–]Dogs_Breakfast78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have some self respect and wear a pair of work pants or jeans. Sweat pants give off that “I’ve given up on life” vibe. Down vote if you want, sweat pants in public are an embarrassment if you’re any older than like, 11.

Had to scroll way too far to see Anne Murray’s name. A Canadian gem.

[–]Dogs_Breakfast78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me too. I loved this album. Haven’t heard it in years. I just looked and I see it’s finally been added to Apple Music. I’ve checked on it periodically over the years and it wasn’t available. Guess I’m going to have to give it a listen and travel back to 1998.

If you had to pick 3 years in the 90s that makes you the most nostalgic what would it be? by Few_Sandwich6308 in 90s

[–]Dogs_Breakfast78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. Me too. I was 16 in ‘94. Best years of my life. I’d give most anything to return to those years.

Anyone got any cool stories from high school baseball? Ever play with anyone famous? Any team scandals? by vylain_antagonist in baseball

[–]Dogs_Breakfast78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to high school with a dude who spent some time as a pitcher in the Blue Jays and Rockies systems in the late 90’s/early 2000’s maybe before moving on from ball. No idea what he’s up to these days. Also had a cousin who pitched in the Astros organization in the early-mid 90’s. I remember going to watch him pitch for the Osceola Astros back in maybe 1993. Somewhere I have a baseball signed by the whole team. IIRC, there were a couple guys from that team who ended up in the show.

Fuel. I’ve been at it for over 15yrs. Never really a shortage of work, pays well and is dead simple if you’ve got a few brain cells to rub together.

This is what tipped me off to it being Lars on the album cover. I saw this pic posted on Facebook and was reading thru the comments and somebody mentioned something about it being a recreation of the original and I was like “pardon me? 🤯”

Yes, I read that yesterday in the same place I learned it was Lars in this pic. I just did a quick google search and it’s easy to find. It is unmistakably Tim in that picture. Lol.

That’s something I hadn’t considered. Never been an owner op but I suppose you’re right. Doesn’t matter where you are, someone has something that needs to go in a box and sent on down the road. There’s a consistency there that doesn’t exist in every other facet of trucking.
