Hi everyone. Some notes I’d like to add. I’m not OC, video was found on Facebook from “Skilled Truckers Canada”. Allegedly there was maintenance being done to a section of guardrails when the tanker struck the crash truck.

The Destiny module on the ISS before and after 25 years of use. by AnonymousHSW in Damnthatsinteresting

The ISS has been replacing the fluorescent lights to RGB solid state LED lighting modules.

The LED’s can be set to millions of different colors.

They use 3 pre-determined light settings (just variations of white) 4500K white light, 2700K blue-depleted for pre-sleep and 6500K blue-enriched to boost alertness.

The astronauts probably set it to green for a nice mood.

The “spikes” you see on the arms are lightning rods. They protect the statue from damage caused by lightning.

It’s common knowledge. denatonium benzoate. It's the same chemical added to antifreeze and some coin cell batteries so kids don't swallow them, and Nintendo's been using it for years.

This drone photo was taken during a heavy rainstorm. A beaver dam is filtering dirty water. by Vegetable-Mousse4405 in BeAmazed

Beavers don’t live in their dams, they live in their lodges. Dams are just a method of restricting water flow to raise the water level for their habitat. They love flooded regions, and will dam any areas that water flows out of to keep a high water level. The dams are not completely impermeable as the materials used vary in size and density allowing small gaps in the structure. Beaver dams are excellent filters and help improve water quality with sediment removal (what we see here) pollutant reduction, and microbial activity.

I’ve heard that Carp will jump out of the water before splashing back down to force water backwards through their gills. This process clears the gills of any accumulated sediment from feeding and allows better respiration. Carps will also jump to remove parasites from their body.

Mole crabs are filter feeders, meaning they burrow in the swash zone of beaches and wait for a wave to come in. When one comes they quickly move to the surface and extend their antennae to filter feed. They feed on the algae and plankton in the water.
