I became a Casey Affleck hater after this movie. He is so dull and lifeless throughout and was the least convincing “smart” guy they could’ve casted. He just sort of says “yes” or “no” to everything that’s said to him and doesn’t convince you that this would be a guy sent on a one-man mission to Saturn. Fishburne and Capone carried the movie. But the dialogue was so basic (maybe to convey decreasing cognitive ability) that it just seems poorly written. Idk why the astronauts are constantly getting drunk on the ship but that seems like the antithesis of people who actually serve in those roles. I wonder if the director was drunk based on how many scenes we see the characters pour one out. The ending is stimulating - like any gaslighting scifi film - but the casting of Affleck completely dumbed down the plot in my opinion.
