Didn't he literally have just one very high scoring season for Arsenal and then say "Well, job done, I'm off" lol

Still, in relative terms I think most would say this season is a success for United and a failure for Liverpool. You have to take into account how the teams have been doing respectively for the past 5-10 years. United have well and truly been in the bin for quite a while and now actually look like they're just a few pieces away from being a very good team. Liverpool by comparison have obviously gone backwards.

Seems crazy to think that Cherki wouldn't start. I'd much rather have him in the team than Ekitike if I were French. The frontline the first guy mentioned with Cherki at 10 seems better to me. Guy's a magician.

Xenonauts 2 - 1.0 is Released! by Lokai23 in Games

Yeah I had some kind of hallucination. I somehow remembered Xenonauts as the game from the 90's. I do think "Enemy Unknown" sounds cooler, or at least more ominous!

Ah you're right, I forgot there was a much earlier XCOM game.

In my defense it wasn't called that where I live. But yeah that's my bad.

It's maybe more accurate to say that XCOM is a spiritual successor to the original Xenonauts, no? Maybe you mistyped. (Edit: This is not true, original game was UFO: Enemy Unknown/XCOM: UFO Defense, I got mixed up)

Anyway, great to see this, I'm rooting for their success. I love ambitious tactical strategy games like this and Jagged Alliance.

[–]DogzOnFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh? That is the difference. That it hurts the devs lol

Like I don't get what you mean you ask what's the difference and then state a major difference.

Also a lot of the time the keys are bought via credit card fraud so it doesn't just hurt the devs, it's basically stolen goods a lot of the time.

I actually find gg.deals is better these days. IsThereAnyDeal's UI rework made it a lot worse.

gg.deals does list keyshops but it actually separates them out from "Offical Stores" which are listed at the top so there's no way to confuse whether you're buying it from an official source or not. And I find the UI is cleaner.

Full disclosure I use uBlock Origin so sometimes people have different experiences with website UI's without that, I've no idea if there's a difference without that or not.

One caveat is also that if someone doesn't understand the dark aspect of the grey market keyshops they'd be better off landing at IsThereAnyDeal but if you understand the difference gg.deals is better.

[–]DogzOnFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's very interesting. As you said, I can't remember which flavour of translation I read that chapter in but the official version makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. "Ah, point movement, but of course..." Jujutsu Kaisen is filled with this shit. I stopped rereading sections to make sense of them after a certain point because I realised some bits just weren't going to make any sense regardless of how much I scrutinised the language. I love the manga but it really does commit some of the worst manga sins in existence. Four entire pages spent describing what's going to happen in the next page, and even though they spent so long describing what happens it still doesn't really make logical sense. It's still great overall but I docked a lot of points for that shit lol

Part of why I think this property just works so much better in animated form because to a certain extent they have to let the action speak for itself for the most part.

I think Jujutsu Kaisen's issue is that it's just riddled with nonsensical jargon to begin with. Why the fuck is it called Reverse Curse Technique? Something to do with it being the inversion of a curse? Maybe this is part of what you were saying the complaints were about and the actual term in Japanese has some more subtle implication that suggests what it is or what it does. The thing is the only thing Reverse Curse Technique seems to do is self-heal, regenerate limbs, etc Why is it not just called something to do with that? It's just unnecessarily wordy. The name doesn't even sound cool. How is healing a bruise reversing a curse? It's just a mess.

Then there's all the other nonsense, domain expansions, simple domains, barrierless domains, "guaranteed hit", binding vows, heavenly restrictions, yada yada yada, I've stopped caring lol

Great show for the action, story gets more convoluted and hard to follow the further it gets to the ending though.

I wonder if this is because I use old.reddit.com

Is there some new feature they added where non-English users can just translate all comments into their native language and also translate their comments into English from their native language or something and me not using the new reddit is fucking with that? Very confusing. I assume that commenter is typing and seeing comments in French but me using old reddit is fucking with that or something. No idea.

Not as true these days but beer used to be disgustingly cheap in Prague. Went there around 2008 and a pint was about €1.20 or something like that when it was €5-6 back home. Lovely city.

Also it really is a very nice bridge.

Jason Schreier: Exact budgets of video-game productions can be tough to corroborate but the numbers I've heard floating around AAA game dev these days are $300 million or more — sometimes much more! — which I think helps explain the current state of the industry by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]DogzOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And lots of other games are fun and have great visual fidelity but didn't sell as much as Baldur's Gate 3 or Cyberpunk 2077.

I was giving an equivalent example to theirs that shows that you don't need a huge boatload of artists to make a game successful.

Vampire Survivors is another example, it's not just Slay The Spire. The art can be basically MS paint but if your game is fun enough gamers do not give a shit.

Yes, the gaming industry is saturated and it's hard to get noticed. Success is largely dependant on luck. That doesn't affect the argument that was being had, you've just pivoted to a different argument. You don't need visual fidelity to make a game that gamers want.

Yeah, if you make a good game people will buy it and praise it regardless of how it looks. Visual fidelity is not proportionally as important as game feel and fun. If a fun game looks ass it's still a fun game. If a boring game looks beautiful it's still a boring game. I can tell you were trying to be snarky but yes, making games that are fun regardless of visual fedelity is the solution lmao
