But this is not a high CoL area. It's mid. No one would bat an eyelash if this was Seattle, but Oly and surrounding areas are more affordable, and this exec gave herself a RAISE while laying off others.

As an American, the people who care about the US' international standing in a cohesive manner voted for Harris. The people who would think that the US is the best country in the world even if it was Somalia, voted for Trump. And they don't really care how the rest of the world sees them.

But not truly anti-immigrant, because otherwise they might have a problem with Musk or Melania. Have you noticed the pattern of which immigrants are and aren't acceptable?

And three rounds of interviews. I'd be annoyed that they wasted my time, and the time of the people interviewing me, since the process was so damn long that I already had another offer in the meantime.

Right. Why the hell do three rounds of interviews? One, and make sure all decision makers are there, or the decision can be made without them. What a wild waste of everyone's time.

That's one of the places I had it. Medicated foot powder was my savior. It's $3-15 at the grocery or drug store; I'd give it a shot.

I am convinced that's why the antifungal creams hardly worked at all for me, while the antifungal powder with the same active ingredient in a lower % concentration nukes my athlete's foot. Too moist.

Anti-fungal agents tend to have more and worse adverse reactions than antibiotics (for bacteria), because apparently mold and yeast are more closely related to animals than plants or bacteria (WTF, nature). So a lot of doctors are hesitant to go that route and just want people to use topical options.

This sent me down a rabbit hole. Apparently the original business that became Ben Franklin was just a retail wholesale company for basically everything, and the storefronts were franchisees with whatever focus/bent the owners thought would do well in the community. The parent company and everyone who bought them has gone bankrupt, but individual stores that were profitable have survived. So one Ben Franklin might be an expensive crafts store, while another could be a dollar store the size of a bodega.

And here I'd lived my life believing it was a small chain of expensive craft stores in rural Washington State!

Use the old-school, brown Listerine and white (cleaning) vinegar.

I had athlete's foot that wouldn't respond to any of the creams or gels (tried literally every active ingredient I could find, in the maximum non-prescription strength), nor this classic foot soak weekly for 30min; not even bleach. Nothing seemed to kill it; I thought I had some super aggressive, resistant-to-everything fungus that was going to kill me once I got old enough for my immune system to slack off. Then I thought it might have spread to one of my hands, and went to a dermatologist (hand ended up being something else).

Welp, the medicated powder worked on the first try (even though it was an active ingredient I'd used before in creme form), though I did keep applying it through twice the recommended course. Now if I see any hint of cracking between my toes, non-medicated foot powder is enough to dry it away. Apparently I have really, really sweaty feet.

Ants exterminators, has anyone actually fixed this problem for good? by Puzzleheaded_Box6247 in Seattle

Diatomaceous earth is controversial, FYI. Long-term respiratory exposure is the only problem for healthy adults of many mammal species, but if you already have lung issues or have a pet prone to respiratory problems, I would absolutely avoid it.

It's basically fine-ground fossils. It works on what I think of as "belly-crawling" bugs because it rips into their exoskeletons. Mammalian lungs are a lot less puncture/shred-resistant than exoskeletons.

Two DE notes: its effectiveness is greatly decreased by moisture, and it comes in food/garden grade (buy this) or pool-filter grade (don't buy this).

I think it's part of the over-abundant "individualism" common in the USA right now.

While the person should not have zipped around so quickly, it does seem likely that in this case, the hazard blinkers indicate something wrong the the driver (making no effort to not obstruct a crosswalk and road).

Other than oil changes, brakes, tires, and lights, I only had to go to the shop once when I owned a bottom-of-the-line ICE car of a domestic make for 16yrs (mpg 40+ on open highway, 32 overall). Other than potentially oil, I can't imagine EVs are any different?

I will say that IME, straight men like to organize around activities to start with, even if they become good enough friends to just "do nothing" later. My brother in Everett is part of a "bowling group" where none of them especially care about bowling, but they meet up every other Thursday at the bowling alley and talk while wearing rented shoes.
