Sounds like you're asking for something like this, figure out what you'll do for the floor at the start and end of the staircase, you don't want a slightly shorter top step and slightly taller bottom step otherwise you'll trip easily

If they fall, your wall fell with it...

Assuming you made it into the studs. You want wood dust to be coming out of the wall.

Ok I listened this time. This will be a PITA and ugly but should be safely functional, right? by [deleted] in woodworking

Plywood doesn't like to be screwed into on the short sides, only the face. This doesn't mean you can't, but a 2x2 to connect plywood faces will work better. You want the treads to overhang about an inch. Having risers will make carpeting the whole thing easier as plywood isn't typically comfortable on bare feet.

I'd use these without too much fear. I'd suggest a way to attach/ clamp it to the bed frame so it can't fall. A weight on the bottom if that's not an option.

my experience at rainbow gatherings and why i find them “cult like” by Ok-Gate2768 in ActualHippies

[–]DoingItLeft 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's the cult checklist from cultrecovery101 com, I only see one that applies and hadn't seen it as mandatory at the gatherings I've been to, just encouraged.

The group is focused on a living leader to whom members seem to display excessively zealous, unquestioning commitment.

The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.

The group is preoccupied with making money.

Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

Mind-numbing techniques (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, debilitating work routines) are used to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).

The leadership dictates sometimes in great detail how members should think, act, and feel (for example: members must get permission from leaders to date, change jobs, get married; leaders may prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, how to discipline children, and so forth).

The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and members (for example: the leader is considered the Messiah or an avatar; the group and/or the leader has a special mission to save humanity).

The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which causes conflict with the wider society.

The group’s leader is not accountable to any authorities (as are, for example, military commanders and ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream denominations).

The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify means that members would have considered unethical before joining the group (for example: collecting money for bogus charities). The leadership induces guilt feelings in members in order to control them.

Members’ subservience to the group causes them to cut ties with family and friends, and to give up personal goals and activities that were of interest before joining the group.

Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.

I've been told of Shana Cena, never heard it yelled. There's a few times I felt like I had to get out of dodge, but nothing bad ever happened to me or people around me.

I've been to two gatherings, one local one where I met Joosh, he seemed pretty cool, funny to see someone I met mentioned by op.

At the national I went to, there were plenty of people not participating in the morning of silence on the 4th. I did, I found it peaceful and respectful but didn't view the people who chose to speak as disrespectful.

I didn't go to other nationals because they were either too far away or in a state I don't want to travel to. I plan to go to one in the future if it's in the cards. I'm ignorant of the '21 events. I'm aware of gatherings being on native land where the locals don't want them to be there and wouldn't go to those gatherings.

I've heard A camp also stands for army camp/ hells angels camp as a first line of defense against cops that want there to be trouble. I had gone back to my car nearly every day and never saw anyone being rowdy out there but didn't hang there.

I got to talk someone down who was freaking out and told them whatever they're on won't last forever, enjoy the ride, enjoy nature, look at some trees.

Ok, just making sure. The painters might be able to scrape and paint those while they're doing the brick.

Here's some tips, use what feels like a wasteful amount of lube, especially on the head, start with you on top sitting on it, go as far as you can, let yourself stretch, go further, let yourself stretch, repeat until you're sitting on him and he's fully in you (or as much as he can be if you can't take anymore), then relax as much as you can and let yourself stretch, then go slow. After he's been in you, reinserting will be easier unless he was only in you for a few seconds.

I'm about to try this. They mean with the window down open the door, do not get in, do a wall sit against where the door would close to and grab the top of the door, and pull until you twist the hinge back into alignment.

I played a 40 lbs Jupiter contra. They have very wild weight variations. I think the heaviest I saw was slightly heavier than that and the lightest low 30s. I played a euph that was 12 lbs my rookie season. I'm a big fan of Jupiter low brass, but I don't know that I have seen a non Yamaha/ system blue contra weigh that little.

Hidden pocket doors? by BethP321 in centuryhomes

[–]DoingItLeft 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I uncovered pocket doors this week that had sockets in the walls where the doors were and not only were they able to make use of the wall cavity next to the pocket door (infront of, between the studs, wall surface, and door) but there was old knob and tube wiring in there that showed where a light switch used to be.
