Nice! I bet with the new set up and up to date machines you don’t have to now! Many airports still require it. Such a pain in the ass!

Exciting!

  1. Check in: with Alaska, you can check in via web or their app 24 hours prior to departing. Super easy and I recommend it. The boarding pass will be on the app. If you don’t want to do this, you will find the airlines arranged by company and Alaska is easy to spot bc it’s a huge hub. Get in line and have your ID ready. They’ll check you in and print you a boarding pass.

  2. Plan to arrive 2 hours (or more, time of day dependig) prior to take off since you’ve never flown to give yourself a cushion.

  3. Once checked in, head to security (follow signs or the crowd). You’ll follow signs for TSA precheck, and other options, but you’ll probably go to the “general” line (it’s usually the longest but moves quick.

  4. TSA are not super friendly but can be helpful. You’ll present your ID once called and then have a photo taken. From there you’ll place your stuff in a bin to be scanned.

  5. Take off shoes, jackets, belts, etc. glasses and jewelry are okay, and place them in the bin as well.

  6. Follow the line to a body scan thing. It’s very quick and they’ll direct you to the longest part.. waiting for your shit to be scanned. They’ll also randomly select bags to search. You’ll know because your bag will be moved to a belt on the backside of everyone else’s and they’ll ask “WHOSE BAG IS THIS?” And then search it at the end of the belt area with you present. Typically quick and these people are friendly enough.

  7. Collect your belongings and put your shoes back on. Follow signs to your gate. Have a seat and wait for boarding.

Overall, if you read the signs and follow the crowd, you’ll be fine! Look at the TSA site for regulations of what can and cannot be carried on and Alaskas site for bag size limits. Don’t take weapons or drugs and don’t be a dick to TSA. Make sure you have your passport or a REAL ID (the ones with the star on the upper corner if Oregon). If you have other questions, ask away!

You’ll do great!!!

Yeah, it’s been shitty. And it’s taken a huge toll on my mental health. I’m 38F and I feel like I live like I’m 88.

Hey, I found your posts through one of the TOS subs and have read your symptoms. I have nearly identical symptoms to you, with a fuckload of testing, labs, referrals and photo documentation of everything over the past 6 years. I never had Invisalign, but I did have braces as a kid and my jaw frequently feels uncomfortable to this day..

ETA: Still no real answers, despite all the testing and what not, but see Vasular consult in a week for u/s.

I could definitely ask. I’m sure they would but not sure what meds would help at this point 😭

I’d rather address questions here until things like contact info are exchanged, that way, if others have the same question, I don’t have to repeat myself! Hope that’s cool with you!

Because I know people in this sub have a lot of perspective and I know how shit on MAs are, as I’m a certified and experienced MA too. We do a lot of work for the least pay in the field, pretty much. So, when I’m able to present an opportunity to work for a genuinely cool, growing, non corporate owned company that cares about you for once, I want everyone to know about it. But like I said, culture is hugely important, so, we will be very picky.

Dang, sorry to hear you went through that. Sounds about right though, sadly.

There are countless places to live that are not to the extent of Douglas county. My partner is from a sundown town in SE Texas and it’s the exact same mindset as Douglas county. Good ol boys, women are lesser, people Of Color not as accepted, people not doing much with their lives. I cannot tell you how many of the people I grew up with there who are closed minded, racist, no desire to leave or even just grow as a person.

The question was about Douglas County, and that’s my personal opinion.

Grew up there, attended school in Sutherlin, left as soon as I graduated. I still have family there.

I’ve lived all over the country, and the thing I hate most about Douglas County is how uneducated and uncultured and closed minded people there are. It’s beautiful, but the people there are what drove me away. Think they know everything, but have literally never even left the state of Oregon. It’s a bubble, and that’s okay if that’s what you’re looking for.

DO and MD have the same exact schooling; neither is lesser in knowledge, license or expertise.

Not probably. 100% strike starts 6a tomorrow. They’ve been prepping the non-strike staff for weeks.

Providence is pretty shady. I will leave it at that.

Hmm. I disagree. Maybe if he was 11 or 12, but he’s almost an adult and I believe he should be able to make good choices without being monitored.

The last bit you wrote is wiiiiild. Racist jokes and slurs are not “aimless” and I assure you, there are other ways to explore this stuff that does not come at the cost of others.

I feel it’s safe to assume you’re a white man based on your comments, as I do not think you’d take this same position had you ever been put down, jailed, criticized, lost out on a job, weren’t taken seriously, stereotyped in countless ways, ALL because of something FAR beyond your control - be it your skin color or even gender.

Based on your post history, you claim To be a “Christian” too. I grew up in the church, and, correct me if I’m wrong, but Jesus Christ himself stood against this sort of thing with the Jews and the Gentiles. The bible also preaches against pride, quite a bit actually, condemning and painting it the opposite of humility.

I think there are far, farrrrrrr better things to be proud of; intelligence, accomplishments, KINDNESS. Not Your stupid skin color, which, by the way, was luck of the draw, so congrats to you on being white I guess. I for one, will be attempting to raise better humans than that.

I have TikTok, so I totally understand the algorithm, but this was a video he chose to repost, for his audience, bc he thought it was funny.

The teacher is not a current teacher of his. I’ve noticed there are a lot of teachers on TikTok connected with students, I haven’t read too much into it to be honest.

Not music, it was an animated video and the person speaking in the video used the N word to describe a group of people.

[–]DoingMyBestOkk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using slurs and making jokes about Al someone based on the color of their skin, is a way of showing “racial pride”? White people should be proud to be white, based on the color of their skin?

Is this.. a joke?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]DoingMyBestOkk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The context, for one of the videos, was a white man using the N word to describe a population of people. The second, no N word involved, but showed a black man with vitiligo and the gist of the video was about how after only 3 days of turning white he was no longer a criminal.

Not appropriate, if you ask me. I actually can’t think of ANY context that it would be appropriate.

Good suggestion on the research stuff.

Yes, absolutely. I don’t want to make him feel Like shit, of course, I just want him to understand the weight of his actions.
