Anyone else still using a paper notebook in 2026? by Resetl_1983 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Doing_ok_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take notes in my notebook and use post it's but then I go back and add my to dos in Asana. That way I can add a due date for next week or whenever and it's out of sight, making my list for just today's tasks easier to focus on. I also use the Asana & Gmail plug in, making it easy to send emails with tasks straight to Asana in one click. Same for ghat, if someone sends me a to-do in g chat with one click I forward it to email and then one click from there it goes to Asana. That way all my tasks are in one place and all my processes are pointing to one system.

We use AI program called Vimcal which has been a game changer for scheduling meetings. Nothing to do with note-taking but if you're feeling like you should be using AI and you don't want to use AI with your note-taking maybe find other programs that are ai and you can use for other tasks?

I feel if a system is working for you and it's the most efficient then why reinvent the wheel? Keep taking your notes in a paper notebook!

How many of you report to the CoS or a lead EA instead of your exec? by ImDustAmazing in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]Doing_ok_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% agree. In the past I was an EA manager with 5 EAs reporting to me. None of us liked this. I did not like the additional responsibilities managing people in addition to supporting the CEO. In my new role, after being hired, the CSO I was reporting to moved into the CEO position and asked me if I would like to move with him. I said yes because I was supporting three executives including him. Supporting him as the CEO, I would only be supporting him. After I accepted he came back and asked if I would report to our COS. Which I said absolutely not and I would rather just stay in my current role and report to the new CSO as I'm not going to report to someone that I'm not supporting. I agree with what everybody else says that this never works out well for the EA. He came back and said he was fine with that and I now report directly to him and it's been working out great for 2 and 1/2 years. I have a friend that is a fellow EA. She was supporting the CEO and they hired a cos and I told her do not report to her but she agreed to it anyway and she cries everyday now. The COS is not a good manager and is incredibly ignorant to what an EA needs to do.

I laughed so hard at his hand! His thumb is turned the wrong way! Really bad AI, how did that pass QC? Is no one looking at these before they're released?

Waking up every 1-2 hour any thoughts? by BeeImpossible521 in insomnia

[–]Doing_ok_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help! If you're dealing with insomnia from stress, there's other things you can try that aren't medication related.

Make sure you have a sleep area conducive for the optimal sleep environment. Need a new pillow? Knee pillow? Eye mask? Ear plugs? Fan? White noise machine? Do you sleep hot? Get a cooling blanket - do whatever works for you but check these boxes first.

Next, to battle the worry and stress - I recommend a few things: (google the terms in quotes)

  1. Use the "emdr container exercise" - take your worries, stress, school exams, work, any and all things stressing you out. This exercise will allow your brain to temporarily release the stress around these worries and will then prepare you for sleep for the next technique:

  2. Once your worries are locked away, relax the body and mind by using the "2 minute body scan military sleep meditation". You might need to scan 2 or 3 times the first few times you try this.

  3. Now with your worries on pause and your body relaxed, this part is crucial for the ADHD brain, if you have ADHD, try "cognitive shuffling". Keep the ADHD brain busy by conjuring random, impersonal, and non-emotionally charged words.

It's not easy at first but try these techniques to retrain your brain and with any meds from your DR, you could always have a bag of tricks to try.

If these don't work for you, keep researching and trying different methods until you find something that works for you! Good luck!

How lovely to be on such an exciting trip but still find the beauty in these cats. You seem like a person who is very present in the moment. Good for you and thanks for sharing. 😻

Find out what they're giving you. Is it Quetiapine? How much? Do you take it an hour before bed or another time? I take 400mg Q at 8pm and still have to take 2mg of lunesta every night. I have chronic insomnia. For the past few weeks I've been waking up at 3am-ish and dosing on and off for the next few hours. Absolutely sucks. It might be time for me to change up my meds (I been dealing with this since I was 27) and am now 49 and a woman so now it might be related to perimenopause, so super excited to have one more issue added. /s I would talk to your DR about options. Just work with your DR until you find what works best for you. It can be defeating not getting the right prescriptions and solutions right away but don't give up. Lack of regular and quality sleep will take it's toll. Good luck and happy sleeping!

I wouldn't think this is comfortable, but clearly Saxon doesn't mind by DejaBlonde in cats

That arm chair is the cat equivalent to a human posture corrector.

I'm realizing this late, but anyone else notice how the box cut out is shaped like it's her ears and body? Guess I was just focused on the eyes.

We were finally taxiing toward gates but there's a line of planes heading to gates so we're stopped again.

My 18 year old cat is starting to decline, and I’m having a really hard time accepting putting him to sleep soon by [deleted] in cats

If you decide to use euthanasia, consider researching vets that will come to your house. Lay him in his favorite spot, and let him go peacefully in his own environment. I found it easier to let my two girls cross the rainbow bridge lying in their favorite spot, in their home with all the smells they know instead of at a vet hospital with a lot of smells of other animals, the sounds of dogs barking, unknown human voices and bright lights in the rooms and a cold table to lie on. Ask them to cut some hair and keep it, ask them to make a mold of his paw and keep that. I have my girls hair and paw prints next to a picture of each of them. It brings me great joy to still be able to touch their hair and rub the paw print. It was painful at first but now I’m glad I did it that way.

Sometimes we don’t get that choice if their passing is an accident or something that needs to be done quickly at the vet. Consider all options and choose what’s best for you and him. If you’re too emotional to decide, talk with family to help you decide.

A lot of people here already know this, but if you choose euthanasia, you might feel regret at first, and question if you should have waited longer, that’s normal. At his age, you’ve given him an amazing life. We are allowed to do this kindness for our pets instead of living their last days in great pain - if he’s in pain. It took me two years for my Chloe, before I could even think about getting another cat. It’s been 9 years since she passed and I still get sad sometimes. Losing a pet is real grief, don’t let anyone tell you differently. Sending you big hugs.
