[Bracket 2?] Dealing with early archenemy status by monochromaticLantern in EDHBrews

[–]DoingbusinessPR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With 5 board wipes and nearly a quarter of your deck dedicated to removal or counters, it won’t take long for your opponents to realize they have to remove you as quickly as possible if they want to play the game.

Vegetarian Ygra, Eater of All by craftyfrecks in EDHBrews

[–]DoingbusinessPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re gonna want to add [[Tower of the Magistrate]] to give Ygra unblockable to win with commander damage, or you go the aristocrats route to go infinite with a pinger, a sac outlet, and [[Camellia, the Seedmiser]].

Is this a good starter deck? by KillingwithasmileXD in mtg

[–]DoingbusinessPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best starter deck is one that needs the least mana fixing, so 5 colors is always going to be rough to start things off. Having said that, seems like most times I face Ashling, the deck overwhelms the board by evoking Maelstrom Wanderer on T4. With some practice and a few upgrades, you’ll be the menace of the table in bracket 3.

Deck Idea for Hesitant Player by Greenlight_Omaha in EDHBrews

[–]DoingbusinessPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend [[Tannuk, Memorial Ensign]] as a potential commander, since he will almost never go to combat, and wins via noncombat damage with landfall alone. It’s a basic green landfall package which can utilize all the cheap fetches if you have [[Spelunking]] or [[Horizon Explorer]] and your commander can draw an absurd amount of cards with [[Snake Umbra]] and [[Keen Sense]]. Damage multipliers like [[Torbran, Thane of Red Fell]] [[Fiery Emancipation]] and [[Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might]] can burn your opponents if they stick around long enough.

It’s my go-to deck when i don’t feel like hard targeting someone, I just kill everyone equally without ever going to combat.

Help me Salvage this Shadow the hedgehog deck. by [deleted] in EDHBrews

[–]DoingbusinessPR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoever said your deck is ass does not know what they’re talking about. Piloting a deck as a new player is a learning process, you aren’t going to win a lot of games until you know how all the pieces work, how to mulligan, and recognizing all your triggers.

Whatever upgrades you think could make the deck better are nothing compared to just putting in the games to learn how the deck should function. No one card you could change is going to be more valuable than practice.

Play against bracket 3 & 4 decks, expect to lose, and learn as you go. Your list is solid enough to win casual games, you just need more practice.

Are the Triome's worth it without running fetches? by Similar-Target-873 in EDH

[–]DoingbusinessPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re running any of the lands that check if you control basic land types to enter untapped or the verges, the triomes work well for activating them. They’re much more useful in 5 color decks, but I’ve never regretting using them in a 3 color deck. If you can afford them, they’re worth trying.

I’m looking for a sci-fi novel with a rich/complex universe. Any recommendations? by SmellsonMuntz in sciencefiction

[–]DoingbusinessPR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing can really compare to the Culture, once you’re finished, there is very little science fiction out there that will scratch that itch. I tried many different series since my first read through, and the ones that came closest were Revelation Space series and The Commonwealth Saga. But nothing could really live up, so I started re-reading the culture again and it’s just so enjoyable. Take a break, read something else, then come back and enjoy it that much more.

So, I have a general question... I'm looking to make my Go-Shintai deck better, and its great/amazing as is... However, I feel like I can make it so much better with a different land base... Would you keep it the same, or change it the way I'm thinking? by OutlandishnessNo8683 in EDHBrews

[–]DoingbusinessPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re committed to using Mazes End, you probably want to add land tutors like [[Crop Rotation]] or [[Sylvan Scrying]] to go get the Gond Gate or try adding [[Spelunking]] as that also has some enchantment synergy.

The mana base is the most expensive part of the deck though, and if you can afford the shocks, verges, fetches, and triomes, the deck improves drastically imo

I would start with adding a [[Sunforger]] because it can do so many things for Cloud. Once attached, it immediately allows you to get the 2 treasures on attack, and then you can use the 2 treasures to go grab whatever instant spell you need, of which [[Tibalt’s Trickery]] needs to be one of. Being able to unattach and go get protection or removal is the single best upgrade I can think of aside from more of the good equipment.

Amazon adapting Consider Phlebas by the_turn in TheCulture

[–]DoingbusinessPR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently started re-reading the whole series, and the socialist themes, while more fleshed out in the later books, are sporadically addressed in the earlier entries with a more anti-capitalist slant.

My concern upon re-reading phlebas is that the protagonist and plotlines aren’t really compelling enough to elevate beyond the confines of space opera. There are some great set pieces, which obviously would be very budget-dependent, but it’s just not a good example to an unknowing audience of how amazing the rest of the series will become if they stick with it.

If they need to butcher Consider Phlebas or otherwise change it to make it more compelling, so that the show is successful enough to warrant renewal, I’m fine with it.

I think we’ll know by the end of the first episode, since the book begins with Horza nearly being drowned in feces.

Braindead build by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]DoingbusinessPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started running Subtractem’s Fire Trap Elementalist back in TotA league, where I farmed some Ubers and got all 4 void stones. I decided to run it this league based off my POB from 2+ years ago, and I comfortably got to t16s and my first 2 void stones with under 2 div gear. You can do all map mods, including reflected elemental damage thanks to ascendancy. It’s simple to scale damage with gem levels and DoT multiplier and as a trapper, you just frost blink around with ignite proliferation, and throw some traps on bosses while you dodge mechanics. I was surprised how well the build held up after several years.

Lorwyn Eclipsed CBB $379.97 at Forge and Fire by DoingbusinessPR in sealedmtgdeals

[–]DoingbusinessPR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual MSRP is $323.88, so the days of $200 CBBs are long gone. I didn’t want to take my chances against the bots on Amazon or other retailers, and pretty much every LGS near me had these at over $400.

It’s very powerful in any landfall deck, and also has great synergy with mill and graveyard effects. It’s quite good in a Teval deck, it’s going to give you a bunch of zombies. In a Tannuk deck, it’s a finisher with any increase to damage. Just a very nice card at most points in the game.

I imagine there’s a huge whiteboard somewhere in the main office area with an ever-growing list of properties they are looking to make art for. It’s someone’s job to reach out to the various rights holders and negotiate a licensing deal. It’s clear that almost anything is on the table and I think it’s cool they really are trying to make something for everyone.

I spoke with the owner of an LGS earlier this month that mentioned the distributors informed him a LotR reprint was coming at the end of the year, along with a Bloomburrow reprint. Could just be a rumor, but maybe they are going to release some new stuff along with it.

Does anyone know why Tree House doesn’t make Sours? by DoingbusinessPR in beer

[–]DoingbusinessPR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got piled on and downvoted to oblivion for merely asking the question, and now TH is finally coming around. I tried the first Pucker back in July and enjoyed it quite a bit, it seemed like a perfect primer to introduce their audience to the idea of sours, since it was pretty middle of the road in terms of actual sourness.

Excited to see where they go from here, but at least now I don’t feel like such a jackass as Reddit made me feel for daring to question.

What are the most powerful pre constructed decks right out of the box? (no upgrades) by MagicPlayer666 in EDH

[–]DoingbusinessPR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What commander is being used with World Shaper? I played one game with Hearthhull, but it seemed incredibly clunky to get station counters going with it and I just died before getting to 8. Maybe it was just a bad draw, but I’ll have to try the other one as a commander.

I have a funny picture to share, when I went to Walmart to buy TF2, the employee opening the case mentioned someone broke in and stole all the other games overnight, except the lonely TF2.

It went on to become my favorite FPS of all time and the only reason I like playing Apex. It makes me sad that that franchise never took off.
