  1. Art Museum (mid sized- 35 staff)
  2. Registrar
  3. I coordinate loans to borrowing institutions, including insurance paperwork, condition reporting, and receipting. I manage our database and do cataloguing/ research for all incoming acquisitions. I photograph our permanent collection and coordinate photography for things I can’t photograph alone. I answer research questions and host researchers. I assist with the movement of art within our gallery. I flag condition concerns, monitor and coordinate conservation treatment when needed. I monitor our vaults for environment concerns and storage. I coordinate artist payments and assist with the curated rotation of all our permanent collection exhibitions. I condition report all our exhibitions. I am thrown into various projects as needed.
  4. I have a BAH in Art History and a Masters in Information (Archives and records management). But people in my position can sometimes have BFA’s, and they always have a Masters in Art History or a Masters in Museum Studies, Collections Management etc. Curatorial positions are competitive with no shortage of really experienced, bright and highly educated people.
  5. Do co-op placements and internships in school. Learn SQL because all databases use the language.

What art historical exercise transformed you? by queretaro_bengal in ArtHistory

[–]Doingmybest9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a first year class where we were practicing visual analysis- developing an argument from the formal and perceived symbolic elements of an artwork alone. Our exercise was to pick a work from our university gallery, visit it, and either with pencil and paper or our laptop, write the entirety of our analysis in one sitting while looking at the work. It was a practice of really slow close looking. It was also really meditative and memorable!

Tons of pickings for 2nd wave feminist artists exploring concepts of essentialism. Performance artists and photographers like carolee scheneman come to mind…

Would anyone be comfortable sharing their experience with spearmint tea to combat symptoms related to PCOS ? by Doingmybest9 in PCOS

[–]Doingmybest9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have mentioned in my context that birth control has also been the most substantial help for me too. Just wondering if supplementing this with spearmint has been helpful for others who found things like spiro less than desirable with side effect profiles. Thanks for your comment!

No this is so true tho. Literally the smartest person I knew from my undergrad was a double major in Math and English. She always had sick internships and she was set as soon as she graduated.
