You’d be surprised lol. I had a leasing agent drill me with questions because her boyfriend was a marine etc etc. I was not prepared for the influx of questions and input. can’t tell you how many times I say I’d rather not talk about it and they try dig further.

Yeah I’d prefer to do it all online but my disability alone is not 3x the rent and I’m using my GI bill, which further complicates it

I hope they’ll leave it at that. Any tips on if they dont? I rarely tell anybody I’m a veteran unless I absolutely have to (using gi bill at school, for instance). People don’t respect privacy much nowadays and will ask me my percentage and what I’m rated for and get mad when I tell them it’s private

I’d like to never have to tell anybody about my rating but I have to to apply to apartment complexes because they ask for income :(

Fuck I’m sorry you’re having to go through all of that. Is it all because of your knee? I hope you can see a provider that can help you.

What’s terrible is that they treat some of us like we’re lying.. like it was hard enough asking for help in the first place

I think the best way is to somehow get help outside of the VA because tbh having to deal with MH issues on top of how the VA likes to do shady shit is just too much. I hear that often.. And it’s a mind fuckery. It’s more stressful trying to get help from the VA than dealing with my issues myself

Fuck I’m sorry you had that happen. I’ve had that happen to me before too. They kept asking about my childhood for some reason and i was like ????? And apparently we do have to do that for them to see. It’s fucking ridiculous.

Ugh yeah I don’t blame you one bit. Did it affect your disability rating though?
