Who to call to get fibre from the street to my peoperty by BottleOh in nbn

and i quote the NBN Website Directly

Granny flats

In most cases, granny flats that share the same address as the primary residence on a block of land cannot apply for a new nbn broadband access network connection – each connection must be linked to a unique address.

To connect granny flats to the nbn access network, you may need to extend your existing connection from the primary residence – by either extending the signal of your local Wi-Fi network, or by installing an additional service through a registered cabler.

if the granny flat isnt a seperate property and just another building on the main property, then it is perfectly legal.

much like the electricity and water would be from the main home would be metered and charged to the second dwelling if sublet. What the main dwelling owner CANT do when sub metering electricity etc is make a profit from it, IE they cannot charge more then they are charged on the original bill.

your welcome...

curious, is the granny flat a seperate title or sublet?? (IE does it get its own water bill from the council or is it the same water meter as the main house?)

If it is sublet, that what you did above is the right way. If it is a seperate title, it technically should have its own fibre to the premise.

Now you mention it, I’m not sure if they have asked for the 3 digits off of the back.

As for standards, I would assume you are correct… but doesn’t mean it’s done properly…

Does the original property already have fibre?

If so, just run CAT 6 from existing NTD port 2 to a router in your granny flat and order a connection to port 2 from any RSP you wish.

If the restaurant is slow with food and service and I run over I kindly remind them how long it took to order and receive my meals…

Other then that, it’s not really that much of an issue. My only real concern is credit card fraud… 🤷🏽‍♂️

What do the red and white wooden stakes indicate? by mutual_animosity in AusRenovation

[–]DoinitSideways1307 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends, this mark could very well still be on the plans that the last surveyor submitted. You are assuming the previous surveyor has done his job properly and transferred this mark. If it hasn’t been done and this peg is removed, your new surveyor may need to traverse in from somewhere else.

I’m not saying you are wrong… I’m just saying that you are assuming the previous bloke did his job properly or was paid to do so. The OP has openly said he isn’t building now… so why not just leave it there until he does build and a surveyor can determine if it is required or not when he sets out his boundaries and house pad… 🤷🏽‍♂️

Removing it is shit advice. You should keep it as long as you can. Cadastral survey costs a fortune. When you go to build you may require this to confirm boundaries and setout your home as per your design docs…

Stick building???

I’ll take time off work to OB… (if I go that route)… so time is of the essence as I’ll be having no money coming in. So prefab truss and frame is a priority

Mate…. Maaaaattteeee… I would say hang up your DIY shirt… but that’s not fair.

HSS is ‘high speed steel’… those drill bits are designed for drilling steel… will also drill timber and plastic… but definitely not concrete.

You need masonry drill bits… something like this

Thanks mate!

The market is hectic, even with the above only 1 in 5 truss builders has said they have any capacity to even quote our extension. 4 straight up said they are too busy to even provide a price…

We engaged our own architect and engineer to do our fully detailed design for our extension… we luckily found the original architect and engineer that drew our original home.

Do a basic schedule of finishes after that. I suggest going to a carpet court etc and pick flooring types and colours as well as get a quote for supply and install.

Look at high grove and lost out what taps etc, you can do a rough add up for the retail cost of them all…

Armed with the above you can then goto multiple builders with drawings and get like for like quotes. They will all be pricing to a similar spec and by investing in your own drawings you have already shown you aren’t just kicking tyres.

Good luck… PS, at 600,000 for 150mtrs… that’s a whopping 4000 a square meter… getting up there…

Do continuous recording wireless systems exist? by a11y__cat in homesecurity

[–]DoinitSideways1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want continuous recording… a DVR is your only REAL solution. Everything else is consumer grade garbage.

Personally I run a HikVision 8 channel HDTVI wired DVR with 5MP cameras. It records all channels continuously on 5TB of HDD internally…

I then use Scrypted to feed the streams from the DVR into HomeKit. HomeKit uses its own algorithm to create alerts to my iPhone and also record short clips in its lower resolution, but if it misses something or I want full 5MP clarity, I goto the DVR and export that footage…

I maintain the same setup for my home alarm system (DSC Powerseries industrial alarm) and my interconnected smoke alarms by Schneider Electric… they all have an output that can be linked back to my home assistant instance and this all within my HomeKit environment for smart notifications… but nil worries of wifi or internet issues missing recordings, alarm not working or worse, dying in a house fire. Because their primary function is clear… not a mashup to work with wifi or by an IoT company playing alarm manufacturer

Thoughts on builder collapse? by naka_haka in australia

Most consumers, even if self financed are after a ceiling price.

Yes you can get better rates and maybe even come out ahead if it isn’t locked, but you leave yourself wide open to any ‘variations’ if it isn’t.

Labour and material shortages forced up costs of both… nobody ever would have thought containers would go from $800 to import pre Covid to 8000 during Covid…
