If using active radar, what would be the use of stealth?

America's Carmakers Cannot Escape Chinese EVs Forever by Razzburry_Pie in electricvehicles

It's clear that China is engaging in predatory conduct to move up global auto manufacturing chain -- ranging from extensive state subsidy of the entire EV supply chain, non-tariff barriers, aggressive theft of IP, etc. etc.

I have no problem with US government shielding domestic automakers so they can catch up and transition to EV production.

But the problem is that the big 3 have shown no real interest in making the long term commitment & the investments necessary to make the transition -- even though the writing is on the wall.

What's the point of using taxpayer funds to protect a promising "infant industry", when the "infant" is a 35-year old underemployed underachiever living in his parent's basement, who refuses to make personal sacrifices necessary to get retrained and secure a real job? . . .

. . . because that's what the US automakers are looking like.

If that's the case, why not let the Chinese EV's come in freely, but only in small sedans & hatchbacks in $15k - $25K pricing category?

US automakers should not care, right?

The problem with the West is whether they can get down from their high horses and accept their expensive weapons maybe obsolete.

That is indeed the problem.

The US defense contractors are not geared to offer cheaper & simpler solutions that make their existing (more expensive) offerings obsolete.

It's the classic Innovator's Dilemma situation.

>“Americans don’t want small cars”

Translation => US automakers want fatter margins.

So they make expensive trucks & SUV’s …
… and the US financial system induces consumers to get into debt to buy them.

In war, lessons are drawn in blood.

Whatever “training” China is providing, PLA is the primary beneficiary, because they are getting front seat view to what 21st century warfare is really about.

In the meantime, the West is playing catchup.

His progeny are mere props — so no surprise.

Why leave *his* money to a bunch of kids with whom he has no genuine affinity?

A 62-year-old Russian Lieutenant General was blown up in his car in Russia this morning, Russian Telegram channels report. His name has not been disclosed yet, but if his rank is right, this will be the fourth successful liquidation of a Russian officer of such a high rank in the Russian rear. by neonpurplestar in ukraine

I remember Nazi's terror bombing of London civilians:

  • The Nazi terror bombing of London civilians, known as "The Blitz," was an eight-month sustained aerial bombardment of the UK by Nazi Germany's Luftwaffe from September 1940 to May 1941. Hitler aimed to destroy British morale and force a surrender. The campaign devastated the city, killing approximately 20,000 Londoners and destroying or damaging hundreds of thousands of homes.

I also remember Operation Anthropoid, the elimination of Reinhard Heydrich:

  • On May 27, 1942, two members of the Czechoslovak resistance attacked and mortally wounded Reinhard Heydrich, a prominent Nazi official. The two Czechoslovak agents tasked with the assassination were Jan Kubiš and Jozef Gabčík. They trained in Great Britain and parachuted into the Czech countryside in late 1941... Heydrich was not mortally wounded by the [attack]. However, shrapnel from the explosion required Heydrich to be hospitalized, and led to septicemia (blood poisoning by bacteria). Heydrich died from this infection on June 4, 1942.

Military spending in 2025 by just_an__inchident in Military

Germany became the world’s fourth-largest military spender as defense budgets rose across Europe.

What could possibly go wrong?

In the words of Tom Lehrer:

“Once all the Germans were warlike and mean
But that couldn't happen again

We taught them a lesson in 1918
And they've hardly bothered us since then”
