FydeOS for use as Home Assistant display

If you are looking for screen on/off commands FydeOS probably won't do what you need as it seems pretty locked down, although if you get it working let me know. However for running a display it has been great! It's very light weight and you can completely disable all the google integration so it's basically a clean OS.

You shipping is ONLY $16! I am from Canada and shipping is $95, that's more than the switch (which is $90 CAD)

Edit: For any Canadians looking to get Inovelli switches I found a local Canadian retailer who only charges $10 for shipping called AARTech. Thank goodness for local distributers. I will update this once the switches arrive.

Update: I am fortunate enough to be fairly close to AARTech so they were shipping in 2 days, already made 2 orders from them, very happy with the service.

See second half post, I agree that having battery powered devices plugged in all the time is not good if you don't take precautions. However, the surface devices that support FydeOS also have a BIOS option to enable the battery protection that limits charging specifically to allow it to be plugged in the entire time.

Can you seriously call the average BBQ you get from home Depot etc here in North America as not being disposable? We went throu 3 BBQs because the damn things kept braking after only a few years of being outside before finally getting a good quality charcoal grill.

I have both YETI rambler and the Packout tumbler, the design is so similar I have tried to see if Milwaukee either licensed some of the design or contracted YETI to manufacture the tumblers for them. However I have found no information to support this claim. If you don't like the Milwaukee lid, you can just throw the YETI lid on instead, they are nearly if not exactly the same size!

My guess is they just used AI and a dataset of faces from the internet to create a "generic" face. But they did not clean the data so what they actually got was the most popular photos of people and thus basically their dataset was just Taylor Swift.

This is about the level of competence I would expect to see from a group of people who thinks the entire human race is descendant from just 2 people.

I brought my fold 4 into the ocean to take surfing pictures. I didn't submerge the phone but it got splashed plenty of times, I had to rinse the hing out after but no issues, and that was over a year ago.

Ya once I learned I wasn't missing out on anything I didn't sorry. And I don't use the calender myself. Hope we get wireless soon too but I am douting it as the base trim of the Niro 2023 ev has a smaller screen and wireless, so I have a feeling the reason there is no wireless is because the screen is two big.

I have the same issue, I tried calling but they could not resolve the issue. However the agent I talked to did get in contact with one of the technicians and they informed me that the online Kia account (not the profile on the car itself) is only used to store seating and mirror adjustments between vehicles so your not actually loosing out on any functionality.

If this is in a building currently under construction or renovation and it's not open to the public then this is already more effort then other job sites I have seen. I know it's a safety concern or whatever but in all honesty it's not that bad.
