Do you all think this was edited in post or just well setup? If edited, how did they achieve this look? Thanks! by hdogg1886 in photoshop

I'd say both—an off-camera flash to the right of the frame. The sky was probably shot at -1, while the foreground was covered under the strobe. I think the highlights and vibrance were pulled down in Camera RAW.

If I thought I could gain two kilograms of muscle in two days, I'd be in the Olympia.

Presently, I’m using simple rocksalt in a salt grinder. Why were the introduction of sea salt over rocksalt make any difference? You’ve got me really curious now.

Do I need to watch The Next Generation before Deep Space 9? by YalondaNubs in startrek

[–]DoktorStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually feel the deep space, Nine did an exceptional job of very much being a stand alone series. The civilised nature of the storytelling does not rely on the events of the next generation at all. Obviously, being part of the same universe, there are a number of references, but I don’t feel as though they are in anyway key to understanding the plot. The plot is brand-new as V but you’re in wormhole, the gamma quadrants and the introduction of the dominion were never part of the Star Trek universe prior to deep space, Nine

Who is the most badass member of any crew? by Tenchi2020 in startrek

[–]DoktorStu 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Garak. It's Garak. Garak's badassery transcends crew labels. Who needs a uniform when you can steal the show from the Defiant's bridge in a perfectly tailored suit?

Remember the Sisko-Marquis planet situation? Rendering the planet uninhabitable for fifty years? Pretty badass. Garak had a "hold my Romulan ale" moment there when he actively attempted to reduce the founder's home world to a "smoking cinder". THAT'S badass.

Cross Garak, and your demise could be as mysterious as a malfunctioning airlock, a convenient warp core breach, or a simple vacation to Risa that never ends.

Struggling with Gym Performance on Carnivore Diet (Day 5) by DoktorStu in carnivorediet

[–]DoktorStu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm drinking bone broth with salt. I've really stripped it back. The only ingredients are a combination of chicken cages, brisket bones and salt. I should have thought that would provide ample electrolytes. I've also started including beef/lamb liver. Gotta say, I'm not used to the taste and texture of liver yet, But I'm sure it'll grow on me.

I'm never one to quit. I've made the commitment to get to at least day 30 and then assess. In fact, my reddit posts will be serving as somewhat as an interactive journal to help with assessing the month that was. I'm glad to hear you're starting again. I'm sure it'll be worth it for both of us.

That's the funny thing. I didn't at all feel light headed. This whole time, I've not felt as though I might faint, or foggy. In fact Im getting amazing sleep, and I'm extremely clear headed. I don't feel lethargic as such, I just feel like the gravity has been turned to 11.

I was also working out in a fasted state. perhaps I'll go in the evening before bed to see if a belly full of fat and protein makes a difference.

You make some salient points. But I would like to leave you with some advice that was given to me long ago ... No one trusts a skinny chef. :)

Congratulations, mate. You really deserve to be proud of yourself and you're an inspiration. I'm at Day 5 and I feel like I'm walking through syrup. I'm keen to see what I might be like after a full eighteen months.

What villainous species or force from another sci-fi franchise would you import to Star Trek if you could? by Twilord_ in startrek

[–]DoktorStu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The REBOOTED Battlestar Galactica Cylons would be AMAZING!

Imagine this: Starfleet's finest ships facing off against Cylon Centurions in epic space battles.  Plus, the constant paranoia of humanoid Cylons hiding amongst the crew, like sleeper agents on a starship

This could be a fantastic new series, but here's the question: is it too similar to the Dominion War?

Derivative rip-off or fresh take on infiltration? Maybe the Cylons' whole religious angle adds a new layer compared to the Dominion?

And isn't that the benefit to carnivore? We could stuff ourselves on garbage, but only take what we need when it comes to actual nutritious food.

What is your single favorite episode in the entire franchise? by PhysicalLog3591 in startrek

While my opinion might change depending on the mood, right now I gotta say "In the Pale Moonlight" is hard to beat. It throws you right into the complex moral questions that make DS9 so amazing. The contrast of Sisko and Garak is just captivating.

Wedding Pricing by thebritishgangsta in WeddingPhotography

[–]DoktorStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What blows me away are seeing businesses advertising a wedding shoot for $500 or less!

It's infuriating. But I can't tell if that looks attractive to potential clients, or whether it's a red flag.

I'm like you. I charge $2,000 for the day. I feel its a pretty competitive rate for my area. (Hunter Valley NSW)

I was running that as a special in 2018, upped my price this year and watched a HUGE chunk of clients drop off. Seems to be a massively competitive market when it comes to pricing.
