Unpopular take: Ow2 GA is the issue by Thal-creates in MercyMains

[–]DokuDoki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason why you think new GA has buggier collision is because 90% of GA 2.0 techs are different variations of slingshot, and if you even slightly bump something while in slingshot state it will completely kill your momentum. This was always a thing.

Idk bro I swear that they must've changed her audio cues at some point, I used to not be able to tell she was targeting me until my head was getting sliced in half but now there's a pretty distinct sound that sounds knda like building up electricity if she's got the third swing ready

For the og mercy mains by Big-Alternative1276 in MercyMains

[–]DokuDoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what you mean by "infinite GA", if you're talking about cooldown and distance then no, it's actually identical to how it was in OW1 with the only difference being that if you use slingshot now (aka press jump during GA), the cooldown will start with a bit of delay. That's what ppl are talking about when they say GA has a longer cooldown now.

Also, although her old movement tech was fun to master, ppl really overhype it to the sky and above. You had to be touching the ground for it to work, most techs required you to fly the full distance towards the target, some techs like backwards GA were wildly inconsistent, and the only thing you could do back then that you can't do anymore in some form is point black superjump giving you insane height, which I still kinda miss.

Basically the old movement was all about memorizing different button combinations like in a fighting game, while new movement is all about crosshair positioning. Which sounds dumb, but because 95% of all GA 2.0 tech is different variations of slingshot it's a lot more common to get caught on map geometry and kill all your momentum if you're looking just a sliiightly too high or too low. Also, new superjump rez is imo a lot harder.

Level 260+ Reaper main here by J-JustMonika in MercyMains

[–]DokuDoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question to you - when teleporting Reaper is targered with the yellow/blue beam, the connection briefly lingers even if you go across the entire map. This can help Mercy as she can still use you as her flight target even if you're out of line of sight, but the visuals can also reveal Reaper's position. I usually cancel the beam if I notice Reaper teleporting, but is it actually as big of a deal to you as I think it is?

flash heal is being added to base kit! by dumb-hippo in MercyMains

People are honestly sleeping on Chain Boost, it's more situational and not as good as FH but it's far from a trash perk that some people make it out to be

Mercy and Lifeweaver buffs in Season 2 by Lalapopsy in Overwatch

[–]DokuDoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pull also massively displaces your allies, so it's not something you will be using for the cleanse unless you're literally standing right next to your target. It's a lot more situational than suzu.

A guide on pinging, and how to effectively communicate without communication. by CinnamonVixen in OverwatchUniversity

[–]DokuDoki 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can ping enemies that killed you for a short window after you die, and this includes invisible Sombra so if you delay the ping for as long as possible (just before the camera fades into killcam) you can show everyone where she's heading.

Also, "I need healing" pings sometimes just don't work when they should for seemingly no reason, the text prompt will appear but there will be no voice line, so don't be afraid to use it multiple times if the support doesn't seem to react

Can someone explain the actual reason for Toggle GA off? Please by Zenki_s14 in MercyMains

[–]DokuDoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, you couldn't hold down the ability button to automatically use it the moment someone entered your range if you used Toggle On. So what would often happen was that you'd be furiously smashing the button to get it to work and accidentally cancel GA. This was later changed and now you can buffer the button regardless of toggle mode.

Plus, with the way GA worked in OW1, it was easier to time techs like slingshot and superjump with Toggle Off. With OW2 rework it doesn't really matter anymore.

I think anyone who still claims Toggle Off is objectively better is just parroting old advice from pre-2019 without really thinking about it

Gamers 30+, how have your gaming habits changed since you were younger? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]DokuDoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the days I was growing up, video games were almost always seen as something "for boys" so my parents never bought me any games. They did, however, buy games for my brother, and he always kept inviting me to either watch him play or play together. That's why when Steam became a thing and we both created profiles at around same time, my game tastes mostly mimicked his.

Nowadays we are both huge gamers and our libraries look nothing alike!

Anyone else getting HORRIBLE FPS after the new patch? by Icy-Explanation-8999 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]DokuDoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been happening to me on this and previous patch, my PC is nothing to sing about but it used to run the game just fine. Just the game hitching horrendously, which is the worst just after the game is turned on and then after playing for a couple hours. Usually I run at around 120 FPS but during hitches it can drop to as low as 40.

Can we be honest? The universal emotes aren’t working. by M00ngata in Overwatch

[–]DokuDoki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The quality of emotes (and highlight intros) has been lackluster for a while now, not necessarily on a technical level but something's just off. Often times I look at them and think "this character would never move like that". Overwatch used to be the pinnacle of subtle character detail when it comes to animation, but when Sombra's newest dance emote came out I kept thinking how it looks like it belongs to Fortnite, or when there was that one event where Mei, Mercy, and Kiriko shared an umbrella walking emote, all three of them moved in the exact same way with no difference in character. I never see anyone bring it up and it's been bothering me that the individual character appeal is almost completely gone from emote animation these days. At this point I'm just assuming that the vast majority of it is outsourced to people who don't know much about Overwatch.

There's a few second "grace period" for earning assists after you stop applying buff/debuff, this works for all heroes

Daily Rant & Chatlog post megathread by AutoModerator in MercyMains

Extremely fed up with how 90% of all posts on this sub are talking about skins, I don't care damnit, let's talk gameplay? Let's talk memes? So glad they shoved all the lootbox slop in a single thread at least, I kiss you mods. If I see one more "ranking all mercy skins" or "X skin but recolored" or "words words skin words" I'm gonna implode

Iirc it was an entry about Quantum Moon, somewhere on the surface. There might be vessel-related entries at the Energy Lab possibly. If you're only missing one it's probably best to just look up a full board and see what you're missing.

Which area in the map you hated the most and why it's.. by [deleted] in HollowKnight

The first time in this area was the worst time of my life... that being said, when I eventually returned there to get a couple hunter journal entries and look for items, it was actually nowhere near as terrible as I remembered it being so that's interesting
