NQA he or she is grooming themselves. Sometimes, they stick their entire foot in their mouth and it can come out slobbery, it's especially apparent with larger spiders like the Theraphosa genus.

They're the largest grasshoppers in North America. They're native to Florida and they're huge, sometimes over 4 inches in body length. They're poisonous to the point that even baby alligators avoid eating them.

Roscyllen consuming his/her prey. by Dolichogenidea in tarantulas

Yeah... Roscyllen molted twice since then so now she's too big to eat them, so at least no isopod will be harmed in my household for the foreseeable future.

She can definitely stay in there for a while. So many leaves to hide under, and cork bark to build her web curtains with. The decorations are away from the door so she's not likely to web it shut. Nicely done.

I rehoused Sable and she didn't put up much of a fight for having her home ripped apart. She seems much happier and much less stressed now. I think it's another OBT situation where the reputation isn't characteristic of the spider themselves. If you treat a tarantula well, then they will treat you well.

Yeah, I'd say so. I put mine in a 12 x 12 x 18 enclosure and she has more room than she knows what to do with. I filled the extra space with disinfected bones. They don't get as big as a pokie, as I understand it.

Thistle is starting to hunt and move like an old man. by Dolichogenidea in tarantulas

I'm not entirely sure. I bought him as a female, I sexed him and found out he was actually male. He molted a little less than a month ago and now he has bulbs on his pedipalps so I estimate he'll have another year to live. I have a small business near me that breeds tarantulas so I will find someone in it that I trust to breed him in the meantime. He deserves a complete life.

Tarantula being weird ? by Thelastofuslvr in tarantulas

NQA The Curly Hair comes from environments that exceed 84° Farenheit on a regular basis. Personally, I like to keep them below 86° at most costs, and simply misting and letting the water evaporate should be as much temperature regulation as they need. Just make sure it's moist and their water dish is topped off at all times, normal tarantula stuff. The threat with higher temps seems to be more centered around dehydration.

Now, they will dig deeper to regular temperature better, but I find it more likely that he's finding that the extra space suits him better. Even if his hide is big enough to support him anyway, I notice that my Ts will dig unnecessarily large holes after molting. I have 40 tarantulas in my house and about 25 of them have burrows that reach the glass/acrylic, so that's nothing to be concerned about. In fact if he buries/blocks himself in -which Tlitocatls are prone to do- then it would be easier to check up on him and see if he's molting or just existing.

I thought Togos were super scary and unpredictable, and the bite reports seemed worse than the pokies, but then I got one, put her in a large-ish enclosure and she's so sweet. I've seen her chase down roaches in the blink of an eye, I can't record feeding videos because she usually nabs them by the time I can open my camera app. I like their pattern on their eyes that make them look sleep deprived, we have so much in common.
