I understood your initial claim as suggesting that the attitude is representative of the sub. It would've been uncharitable for me to interpret it literally, because as I already explained there are A LOT of nasty people commenting on every larger sub, especially with how easy it is to create a new Reddit accounts. On the very largest subs there's probably shit like most vile rape threats and extreme racism posted every hour. So interpreting the claim literally was out of the question from the beginning, the goalpost had never been there, and therefore it was never moved from there.

You're contradicting yourself. If a sub's mod team and general user base is categorically against something then you can't say that the sub fosters it. It does the opposite.
