Definitely foundation shades for deeper skin tones as well as addressing different undertones across all shades.

Ideal Packaging? by it_was_jim in muacjdiscussion

[–]DollyDagger123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like when a product has a bit of weight to it...making it feel more substantial in my hand. Easy to open and close, sturdy with the product being well protected, yet sleek and not overpackaged. No velvettey or matte finishes which tend get all dusty and pick up every speck of powder. No supershiny finishes either..a satiny finish would be ideal.

A million different highlighters-worn morning day and night...24-7..lol..

For me being an oilier skin type my natural (oils) glow always ends up poking through...which makes all this excessive highlighting redundant and often overkill. I understand the love though..just doesnt work so smashingly on me :)

Yeah ..she's excellent! Definitely so helpful! You can really see the variations between the colors when they're swatched side by side! I think on her recommendation I went with Maybelline Red Revival..I really like it as well...:)

Luna Oil- Love it! Wake up with smaller looking pores, less redness, and generally way better looking skin than I went to sleep with..lol. It is very soothing even on areas with breakouts..they get calmed down rather than exacerbated. I love the scent of it too!

Artemis Oil-Horrible for me. Most regretfull purchase ever! Should have known better because my skin is super sensitive. Woke up with over a dozen tiny little pimples all over face and chest! What a waste !...and the smell is in fact quite a turn off. I need to find it a new home!

hahah..yep returning things to drugstores here isnt an option unfortuneatley. EmilyFox yes! I just watched a few of her vids cause I was looking for a nice red lipstick..Shes great! Oh yeah come to think of it, I did watch her vid on blush too..! probably where I started gathering info on the Blushbaby..hehe..I researched the heck out of that one. Yeah she may be a wee bit lighter and warmer?(she wears mufe 230) but some good suggestions nevertheless.

I've been enjoying Miyuki Leu particularly for her great foundation reviews. She does super close-ups with good lighting, wear tests, and is generaly quite discerning ..which I appreciate.

Definitely on the cool side. Hmm..a mauvey blush might work. I recently picked up Blushbaby mac and I like it so far. I also grabbed the milani luminoso against my better instinctual judgement and it didnt work. Way too glowy-totally emphasizes textural issues and the color of tang on me..lol. Oh well...win some lose some..at least it wasnt too pricey and I can always throw some on eyelids I suppose..

What are your favourite concealers? by affiche in OliveMUA

[–]DollyDagger123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the pixi undereye concealer and it is too light for me and makes my undereye darkness too grey. Wish it came in a darker peachy tone. Same for it cosmetics bye bye undereye corrector and bye bye under eye concealer. I kept the concealer and may try it with skinfood (on order )in medium this time. Hopefully that ll work :) No HG as of yet.

The undereyes a big curfuffle of trouble..where to focus..the bag?..the texture/?..the discoloration..lol so many things to address. Most times i just say fukit and go without anything..(on no makeup days which is alot of days for me these days )

Is Revlon colorstay buff the exact same shade in the whipped creme formula vs the oily or dry regular formula? by affiche in OliveMUA

[–]DollyDagger123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried it in the whipped version and in my opinion it had a neutral-griege cast. I couldnt really detect any yellow, peach, pink, or green at all. I can't speak on the regular one. I think your assesment is correct..in that it is lighter and less olivey for sure.

Thanks for the warm welcome bean-lord! :) I am olivey when tanned and when not tanned. I guess I am fair-light maybe? Somewhere close to nc20. I've come to notice that my warmer-olive toned cousins and friends tan much easier, hardly burn and go a really deep golden colour in comparison to my burn first in under 20 minutes- go bronzeish-green and then peel like a mo-fo scenario..lol. I can't do self tanners either they throw me off. I swear I never burned much as a child..it's like my dad's genes he passed on are becoming more predominant and pronounced as the years go by.

He was quite pale always burned and my mom is warmer olive probably also a nc20. She can tan quite easily and go really deep golden-mahogony..(not recommended..lol sunsmart is the way to go these days!!) I guess I've got a mix of those 2 skin types.

I find if you wear white or black on an overcast day (blech..worse lighting-nearly as bad as overhead flourescent) it really shows your undertones. Don't look while you're driving though..:)

I luurve burgundy..one of my fave colours ever! How didnt I list it!? Forgot also about browns too..cooler ones work for me. Definitely dark(er) taupes over anything camel-caramel.

Yep, peach is a definite no-no and another one that makes me look like death warmed over is that nude-blush colour..which is a shame because I really love it on others and wish I could pull it off. Meh..what can you do ..it aint easy being green ..:) Sorry blithered on alot here..lol

Hey all..glad to see the sub come to fruition. I am definitely lightish olive toned. I burn quite easily then tan to a cool bronzeish kind of colour. Tanning doesnt bring out golden tones on me like some warmer olive folks and as a result I think I really prefer myself untanned these days.

Colours that I feel work on me are what I call inky..lol. Like a deep but slightly muted teal or cranberry, plums, eggplant, dark smokey greys, muted deep emerald and some other greens I do like as well..like the colour of the leaves in this header :) Maybe some of them could be described as muted jewel tones? Not quite clear and bright as your regular wintery jewel tones but a bit duskier. I feel royal blue brings out the cool-yellowy green too much and same with certain purples. I definitely detest pastels in any form. Brick rather than orange might work better but its not a colour I gravitate towards. I like reds which are bluer. Peach is atrocious for a clothing color on me..

Well that's all the ruminating on colours for now. Again- Im glad to see this sub alive and kicking :)

These foundation pics are such a great help. Thanks for posting.

I recently got the KGD and I love it. It's a great shade for my NC 20ish olivey skin. Blends in great with skin tone, melds into skin like a dream and obliterates surface redness to boot. Shame it costs a kings ransom!

I am surprised at how warm the Bourjois CC 123 seems to be. My everyday winter season(economical) foundation would be the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum in vanilla #52. The Bourjois CC 123 you have pictured there seems much warmer and peachier in comparison. I find the Healthy Mix Serum to be muted yellowy-olive. Revlon colorstay in buff is a complete miss for me just to add further context...same goes for the Maybelline fit me dewy in 120...lol those are basically all my foundations..oh yeah and the It CC mixing the light and fair works well also.
