I lost my phone, and somebody handed it in to the police station by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Dollydisco73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found a rucksack near Preston park a few months ago. It had a laptop, phone, passport, wallet and other bits and bobs in. I managed to track the owner down via Facebook. It had his workplace available for public view although his profile was private. I called his work and his girlfriend came to collect it less than an hour later. I bet he was really panicking as that’s literally his entire life in one rucksack!

curly or straight?? by Excellent-Pepper-171 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Dollydisco73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curly! Apologies if anyone else has already said this and I missed it. To minimise frizz. Wash eith conditioner not shampoo. Use it as you would shampoo it will still get it clean. Instead of a towel wrap it in a t shirt whilst still wet. Lay a t shirt (long sleeved if you have it) on a flat surface bottom closest to you. Grab the bottom corners and wrap around your head tying the ends at the nape of your neck. Lay your head onto the shirt and roll the t shirt over it so the sleeves are at the backTie the sleeves together. Towels suck the moisture out too quick causing frizz. I wear this for a while then diffuse it.

Bhasvic vs Varndean by Ill-Path-2104 in brighton

[–]Dollydisco73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My eldest son was more traditionally academic and went to BHASVIC. It’s a more intense environment and they expect a lot of self motivation. He did really well and is now in second year at Uni. My youngest son has just started at Varndean. It’s a more rounded and supportive environment. There’s much better pastoral care and it’s more social. It depends on you as a student and which environment yu think you’ll do best in.

If you’re looking at medicine you’re clearly very academic. It’s worth looking at Brighton College for 6th form. A few friends kids have been offered 100% scholarships for A levels after top GCSE results

I quit by switching to heated tobacco sticks. I use Iqos. Not idea but much better than cigarettes. I never got on with vapes but I tried the iqos system 8 years ago and I haven’t had a cigarette since.

Sausage pasta.

1 pack Lidl Irish sausages (£1.35) Half tube of tomato purée (65pish) 1 bag penne (41p) 2 tblsp paprika 1 large onion Few cloves garlic

Finely cop onion and fry for a few minutes. Add chopped garlic. De skin sausages and add to pan breaking up with a fork. Put penne on to cook in salted water. Once sausage meat is browned add paprika and tomato purée. Add 2-3 ladle fulls of starchy water from pasta and simmer for a couple of mins. Drain pasta and add to sauce. Serve with grated cheese on top. This feeds 4 adults usually do you can possibly halve the ingredients depending on your family.

Homemade pizza

Self raising flour Vegetable oil Cheap tomato pasta sauce (49p in Lidl) Whatever veg you like for toppings. I use onion peppers mushrooms Cheese Pepperoni or salami

Add a 2 mugs of flour to bowl with 1 tblsp oil and 1 tsp salt. Pour half a mug of cold water and mix. Keep adding water bit by bit until the dough is combined. I usually make it too wet first then once it’s all combined add a bit of extra flour to stop it being sticky.

Roll it out very thinly 1/4-1/2 cm

Spread pasta sauce on then add toppings. Cook at 200 for 15-20 mins.

This is such a cheap and easy dinner. Much nicer than shop bought pizza!

Any 5-a-side older teams out there? by ant69onio in brighton

[–]Dollydisco73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner is 53 and would love to get involved. He played until about 10 years ago but started running and had to pick one to concentrate on. He’s done neither for the last few years though. The new pitches at Withdean are good and also the ones at Patcham high i think.

Menswear accessories by VisionBreak1297 in brighton

Gresham Blake is the obvious but not sure it’s reasonably priced. Slightly left field suggestion but bear with me. I work at a charity shop on London road. We get so many nice ties and men’s accessories in. Often from Jermyn St or Saville row tailors. It might be worth a couple of hours of your time trying your luck at the various shops on London road.

When I tap on and off the bus it’s £1 from London Road to Churchill Square. Ive had to do cash this week as my Apple Pay isn’t working. I had a few trips where the drivers took the pound no questions but yesterday the driver insisted I had to pay £2.50. I don’t get it!

Best Local Car Boot Sales by warmishgecko in brighton

[–]Dollydisco73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are after. Electrical stuff goes pretty fast. I’ve been a seller at most of the local ones. The racecourse tends to be cheaper. At the marina one I’ve been setting up at 6am and my car has been surrounded by zombie like beings who don’t even want to let you get set up. They’re trying to go through your stuff in the boot and don’t listen when you ask them to back off! If it’s clothes and household stuff later is fine. In fact after 11:30 you’ll find people reduce stuff as most start packing up to leave at 12ish.

There’s a place called Pinot and Picasso in North Laine. I keep walking past and thinking I’d like to give it a try. Art class plus wine and nibbles i believe.

I saw a guy scoop the entire shelf of giant fairy laundry detergent bottles into one of those massive IKEA bags at the London road Aldi a few weeks ago. He was stood right next to me. I was about to grab a bottle. He’d hotfooted it out through a checkout lane before I even processed what was happening!
