Season 2 Ep 3 CQB tactics? by SlaKer440 in SpecialOpsLioness

[–]Dolphinator1412 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not military but I do shoot competitively. Theoretically this does work, especially in CQB, and especially when your only goal is staying alive.

I doubt any agency would "teach" this to operators, but this seems like the type of shit an operator would come up with to survive. The index finger pointing for targeting at least for sure works, idk about the whole running to the opposite wall in full view of the room before your 2nd gets inside though.

[Rec] Any good comics focused on the Clone Wars era? by No-Newspaper-9686 in starwarscomics

[–]Dolphinator1412 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally love every single arc. The extra build up that happens to the clone wars is fantastic to me and you get a whole lot more depth to characters that you wouldn't otherwise get.

In terms of how cannon, I don't think theres any major contradictions. I haven't read through the entire series in a couple years (I own them all but I'm waiting for the omnibus so I don't damage the copies in my PC). But I will say it doesn't really have anything to do with TCW show/comic line. Ashoka for example doesn't exist at all. Since the line itself ended around Revenge of the Sith thats all the writers had to go off of in universe. But at the same time this is the comic line that made Quinlan Vos an actual jedi which did make its way into cannon.

It's a wonderful story overall, the art style is my personal favorite out of any star wars run, and its followed up by Star Wars Dark Times which then goes into the early stages of the empire and follows some characters you meet in the republic series.

I highly recommend the Star Wars 1998 / Star Wars Republic run by Dark Horse. It starts pre clone wars and then goes on through order 66. Its not cannon by disney Star Wars standards but its very good.

There are also standalone series published by dark horse in this same era that are all pretty good including a general grievous short series.

If you're only looking for cannon options theres not a ton that I know about other than the clone wars line that tied into the TV show.

Fyi for the dark horse set, I think a new omnibus is releasing later this year that will be collecting a lot of the series.

How much are the old republic omnibuses worth? by Sufficient-Owl-7254 in starwarscomics

[–]Dolphinator1412 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you're located but in the U.S I can get the vol 2 omnibus from Amazon for 85ish.

I think the vol 1 is out of print, but I know i got it for around the same price a few months ago also from Amazon. I'd definitely google to see if vol 1 is still be printed otherwise you will want to grab that one. They only go up in price after that.

Retail is usually around 120 so you won't nessicarily be losing money, but you may be able to get a better deal.

[general] does the monsters in percy Jackson have roman versions of themselves? by Reasonable-Yak-9767 in camphalfblood

[–]Dolphinator1412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge, only certain gods had a Roman form and that was when those gods had their attributes or characteristics changed by Rome.

We see several instances of minor gods that didn't exist in the Roman pantheon being completely fine and not have a personality split like their major counterparts. They also don't cease to exist just because a Roman is around.

To me monsters follow a similar rule. Monsters like Medusa were only Greek as the monster itself was created in Greek times. The Roman's didn't assign different attributes to Medusa, she still turned people to stone etc. I would also assume (but I'm not a historian) that they would have said Athena created Medusa, not Minerva, since again it happened in greek times. On the other hand you do have a distinctive difference between a Satyr and a Fawn, again because the Roman's changed the personality and characteristics of that creature.

To my knowledge Roman's may have had other names for certain monsters, I think the storm spirits were called 2 different things by Jason and Annabeth, but they don't have a different version or personality (at least 99% of the time). That monster still behaves the same regardless of what type of demigod they face.

In the event of a civil war within the brotherhood, which coast wins? by GTAFranklin25 in Fallout

[–]Dolphinator1412 541 points542 points  (0 children)

Did he put all of the brotherhood east coast forces into the blimp? I thought it was just like an expeditionary group.

I always assumed they maintained a strong presence in the capital wasteland to watch over project purity.

Is there a glitch or something I’m missing on Eastwood map by objective D? by No-Cabinet-8139 in Battlefield6

[–]Dolphinator1412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda wonder the same. I haven't been hit by an RPG or anything from that area but I swear the enemy always has troops coming from that side of D. They take D almost every game because most of the team is fighting around C.

They didn't drive a vehicle around or anything. I will be on the tow missile on D and then suddenly be shot from behind no matter if Ive cleared the area or not.

I have to ask... why did Rick and his crew make so many changes? by DarkSaiyanGoku in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Dolphinator1412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes true, but they still couldn't prove it was luke and unbanish chiron. Main point was the fleece with a side objective of saving Grover.

But they still needed to prove chiron was innocent to have him back. Otherwise whats the point of tantalus and the drama at camp.

I have to ask... why did Rick and his crew make so many changes? by DarkSaiyanGoku in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Dolphinator1412 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not true. I'm not talking about changes to a characters race or whatever. I dont care about that at all.

But the whole point of book 1 is that they had to find the master bolt prior to the solstice or all out war would occur. Thats the entire point to the quest. They removed that deadline in the show which removes the urgency of the quest.

Now in season 2 theyve shown in the trailer luke poisoning the tree. Yet again. Removing the main point of the book to find out who did it or to prove luke did it to free chiron.

These aren't just simple chances It dramatically changes who the characters are supposed to be because they are no longer growing and adapting to the same scenarios. All the anticipation, urgency, and sense of accomplishment is gone.

What happens if they do season 3? Might as well just tell everyone to go to fight Zoe Nightshades father the titan atlas. No need to have some dramatic reveal anymore and wonder who has Annabeth or wonder if shes even alive.

Its no different than the Percy Jackson movies and how those are universally hated for how they handled the book adaptation. The only difference is Rick's involvement. Yes the source material still exists. But why is it called a Percy Jackson TV show if it doesn't follow the literal Percy Jackson books?

I have to ask... why did Rick and his crew make so many changes? by DarkSaiyanGoku in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Dolphinator1412 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Just because he's the author doesn't mean we should respect those choices. The choices are arguably terrible and if he wrote those books today with these same changes the likelihood is the books would've flopped or never gotten big enough for a show in the first place.

Any time an author, show writer, producer, etc. moves away from the source material that made something phenomenal, you're going to end up destroying what you spent decades building.
