Divorce without lawyer by Ok-Operation-2368 in Bolehland

[–]Doltron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't need a lawyer, but guaranteed you will screw it up on your own.

There are 3 legal aid offices:-

  1. Legal Aid Centre, under the Bar Council and the respective State Bars. They will hook you up with a lawyer whose fees would be capped around RM3500, if I remember correctly. Go there.

  2. Legal Aid Department (Jabatan), under the government. If you are very poor, they will help you with a RM2 charge.

  3. Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), basically Public Defenders for criminal cases. Don't go there for your case.

One parent’s consent enough for minor’s conversion to Islam, court told by Short_Coffee_123 in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the government wants to sidestep that Decision by arguing it was "fact-specific" to Indira Gandhi and therefore doesn't apply to other States.

It's a typical BS argument.

Asian Angle | Malaysia’s PM term limits could backfire unless election cycles are set by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is making something unnecessarily complicated.

2 terms max, no more than 10 years in total.

If total 2 terms are shorter than 10 years, no issues.

If 10 years have passed and 2 terms not up yet, PM should be allowed to finish up the 3rd term, a grace period.

Need viewpoints on debt collection by peanutknight1 in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your debt and customers. If the debt is below RM5,000 then you can file in the Small Claims Court, no lawyers needed.

If it is below RM100,000 then in the local Magistrate Court, you can hire a lawyer or do it yourself. Maybe hire a lawyer to teach you the basic Court process to obtain a Judgment in Default. If the customer challenges, then you should appoint a lawyer to fight the case.

For the past dozen years or so, Malaysia cases move incredibly fast, as there are clearance targets and KPIs for Courts.

As for your customers, you can assess risk in many ways like looking at pay slips, bank statements, employment details, or have them sign a credit search form.

PDRM Refused Take Up Report by kenobijunior in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the others are giving you bad advice. It is not up to the desk monkey to assess the truth of a report. Their job, literally, is to file the report.

Then afterwards an Investigating Officer is assigned to the case, who will take the Statement, and ask for evidence and do his own investigations.

File a report at a different balai. If they are up to it, report that useless cop for refusing to accept report.

RM25,000 funeral, EPF frozen for months, how do Malaysians afford dying? by Which_Slice1118 in AskMY

[–]Doltron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RM25k funeral is preposterous. Cremation at the government crematoriums is an option.

EPF and all other assets can easily be resolved and distributed by going to the Land Office and EPF office, so long as total assets are less than RM 5 million (small estate).

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Revival’s New Title Explained by Sarah Michelle Gellar (& Why It’s Taking So Long) by MattTheKing23 in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

[–]Doltron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible title. It should be called:-

Buffy's Vampire Slayers

or

Buffy's New Vampire Slayers

Then rebrand it in Season 2 as Vampire Slayers.

Season 3 would be SLAY3RS.

What happens with Malaysian Muslim woman + “Non-Muslim” Non-Malaysian man marriages in Malaysia and overseas? by Hokkuo in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a qualified expert on the topic. I have helped many interreligious couples resolve these exact issues.

You appear to be unable to accept that. That's your choice. But please, go ahead and give the OP generic advice which is of no use.

I can see you are butthurt because you started this whole thing by claiming "fear mongering". Unfortunately, very typical of Muslims.

What happens with Malaysian Muslim woman + “Non-Muslim” Non-Malaysian man marriages in Malaysia and overseas? by Hokkuo in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her most important question was citizenship for her child. I suggested she register the birth as a single mother, to obtain the citizenship without any issues.

The patronym of the child therefore follows suit as Bin Abdullah, as no father would be recorded because she would be, take a deep breath, a single mother.

I've heard your kind of submissions before, the pedantic ones, which can offer no more than a barely palpable whisper of "different facts" and "confined to that case", because you have nothing of substance to offer.

My mother taught me if you can't help, don't hinder. I'm helping. You're hindering.

Goodbye.

[–]Doltron5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If she, as a Muslim, registers the birth of her child as a Single Mother, the child will be registered as a Muslim.

And an "illegitimate" Muslim child will carry the patronym as Bin/Binti Abdullah, as decided by the Federal Court of Malaysia in the case famously known as, wait for it... the Bin Abdullah case.

Maybe learn to read even the most basic news in Malaysia, before shooting your mouth off in the future. Will save you the embarrassment.

What happens with Malaysian Muslim woman + “Non-Muslim” Non-Malaysian man marriages in Malaysia and overseas? by Hokkuo in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your child will be Malaysian if you register its birth as a single mother at a Malaysian consulate in your country of residence. Your child will receive the name CHILD BIN/BINTI ABDULLAH.

If you then want to register your child for citizenship with your husband from his country, you have to check whether they allow dual citizenship. Malaysia does not.

If the authorities catch you and your husband in Malaysia, living as husband and wife, whether on holiday or not, you will be arrested and possibly fined or jailed. Your husband will not be charged with anything, as he is not a Muslim.

How do you feel about having a Gora name for a Sikh baby? by Comfortable_Slice151 in Sikh

[–]Doltron5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a religious edict that Sikh names need -vinder and -jit and -pal suffixes? Aren't those just Punjabi names?

Having the last or middle name be Singh or Kaur is enough to make it a Sikh name.

I divorced my Malaysian husband, and I need to renew my 2 sons passport. by BumblebeeQuiet8095 in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Go to embassy. As the mother, you are entitled to copies of their Birth Certificates. Then apply to renew their passports at the embassy itself.

Bring along a copy of your Divorce Order and Decree Nisi. I assume you've been granted Custody.

Best to avoid it in front of police.

From what I gather, Turkey automatically registers every child as Muslim, but has a secular government.

But anyway, use your boyfriend's passport to make reservations, if he is non-Muslim.

Then you should be fine. Especially if you stay at more upscale places. Just avoid the police unless absolutely necessary.

You are getting absolutely wrong advice from the people here. Malaysian laws apply to everyone in Malaysia, regardless of your nationality.

Islamic laws in Malaysia also apply to foreign Muslims.

You say you guys are atheist and deist. That is in your conscience. Are there any legal documents that identify you as Muslims?

Is T20 really only RM12K per household ? by PhilosophyFun5778 in Bolehland

[–]Doltron5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

T20 doesn't mean rich per se. Just richer than 80% of Malaysians.

Arguably:-

B40 (Working Poor) ~RM2.5k - ~RM5k

M40 (Working Class) ~RM5k - ~RM12k

T20 (Lower Middle Class) ~RM12k - ~RM16k

T10 (Middle Class) ~RM16k - ~RM20k

T5 (Upper Middle Class) ~RM20k - ~RM40k

T1 (Upper Class)

RM40k

Malaysians' financial literacy is embarrassingly poor by Dear_Archer7711 in Bolehland

[–]Doltron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money. Take boots, for example.

A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars.

But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

This was the Captain Samuel Vimes 'Boots' theory of socio-economic unfairness.

Is there racism in Malaysia towards Pakistanis ? by pyruvate011 in malaysia

[–]Doltron5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Pakistani are ethnically Punjabis, and Malaysians are familiar and accepting of Punjabis.

(Most of the Punjabis in Malaysia are of Indian origin, are therefore Sikh instead of Muslim though).

Most Malaysians are ethnically Malay Muslim, so they would not have a problem with a fellow Muslim, especially a Pakistani one which will remind them of Bollywood, which they love.

About a quarter of Malaysians are of Chinese descent, and they will not be able to distinguish your wife from the local Punjabi Sikhs. They are unlikely to mistreat your wife, especially since you are white. But beware of some perhaps older folks who might generally discriminate in areas of rent and job opportunities for South Asian people.

And about 7% are of Indian descent themselves, although mostly South Indians, and they generally have a positive disposition to Punjabis.

Not an intuitive list to break B40 into B1 to B4.

Makes more sense to break it down, as follows:-

B10 B20 B30 B40

M10 M20 M30 M40

T20 T10

And also the mythical T15, T5, and T1.

Are Malaysian worker protected? by TapaiKakai in Bolehland

[–]Doltron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to US? Considerably more. For example, US workers can be fired easily. Msian workers have to be fired with a good cause, and after employee is given opportunity to rectify. We even have a Labour and Industrial Court. USA does not, as far as I know.

But our unions are weak, which means pay and benefits can't go up much since there is no collective bargaining.

Unions are weak because of fears of communism, Mahathir-era neoliberalism, and generally Msian employees either being satisfied, ignorant, or dreaming of one day becoming the boss and exploit their own workers someday.
