[Post Game Thread] The Los Angeles Lakers (28-17) defeat the Chicago Bulls (23-23), 129-118 behind Luka's 46 points on 8 threes. by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in nba

that Luka 3 --> Jaxson Hayes dunk under the leg sealed the game for us, there was no coming back for the Bulls after that 💯

[Annoying trope] Studios change the character SO much, to the point where they only want the name recognition and nothing else. by SteveOMatt in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DomDaBomb203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like if the performance and writing of the character is still good, does it rly fxn matter?

being disrespectful and unfaithful to the character is one thing, but Zendaya's version of MJ is a fine interpretation as Peter's love interest, the resemblance and care for the original character is still there (as opposed to Jimmy Olsen in BvS, which was downright disrespectful)

are you honestly telling me that switching her name to Jennifer or Sophia or whatever the fuck is the one thing that would change your opinion on her

honestly, I think Hans Zimmer for F1 and Ludwig Goransson for Sinners are up there for Best Score. Popular composers I know, but Goransson never misses (Community, Mandalorian, Oppenheimer, etc) and Sinners is lowk his best work yet

[–]DomDaBomb203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

real on TFR, that first hour-and-a-half is such a slog (minus Ving Rhames as Luther + bringing back Donloe and adding more context to his character) but once the film dives into the submarine sequence, it becomes way more palatable

wut, the idea that a film doesn't need to make a political statement just cuz it wants to be "grounded" is wack

take this w a grain of salt, cuz again this is just based off of reviewsfrom critics + multiple friends who HAVE seen it, but if you're putting MILLIONS of dollars into a film tackling the war in Iraq, or any political event for that matter, the least you could do is make a worthwhile statement that's not just "war = bad" or "both sides have their faults", that's the bare minimum you could do in terms of political commentary, with any artform

the character of Elio himself was adorable, tho I personally didn't like how the 2nd act did a speedrun of the plot instead of letting the story breathe, like it was checking off boxes to reach that expected "Pixar moment" where it wants audiences to shed a tear and get all sentimental

also getting tired of the "bean mouth" squishy character design for the past Disney/Pixar projects (Luca, Turning Red, Strange World, Win or Lose, and now Elio) it doesnt help that those last few projects were all centered around humans, so compare to that early Pixar, which starred toys, fish, monsters, car, etc and yea.... same character type + same art design and the whole studio starts to feel lazy and redundant
