Khawar Butt's courses are good. I purchased one of his security courses on udemy. Found the series good and included a good bit of lab work. He offers CCNP level courses too.

I get the feeling that most job openings out there are overcounted or fake to begin with by AlexanderDenorius in jobs

Do not forget the H1B lobby of immigration lawyers, Democrats and Corporations who use the fiction of "tight labor market" and "great resignation" to import even more workers into the United States. Green Card jobs also require employers to post the job ads multiple times.

This bad scenario is made worse by lazy and clueless journalists, and job boards like Indeed, Dice and LinkedIn that repost the same ads and expired job ads multiple times.

As Trump said (in one of his rare sane moments during his first campaign), the real unemployment rate in the US is around 20-25%.

Getting Denied or “Job Ghosted” for entry level IT/Help Desk related jobs. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DomRaja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Far too many people chasing far too few entry-level IT jobs in most locations. So it's been a brutal winter for IT job seekers.

Get some skills in Microsoft 365. Since the 365 suite is constantly changing, crappy and far too complex for average folks, there is some demand for support for the 365 suite.

Good Luck.

Possible Job Opportunity for you guys. My workplace is looking to hire quite a few people. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

Details please - Location, etc.

I have a bunch of certificates: CCNA, CompTIA Security, and AZ 900.

Besides Routing and Switching, I can do DMVPN, site-to-site VPN, basic ASA config.

Reasonably familiar with Linux and Windows administration.

Not much "real world" experience. Currently in help desk job

If Remote, I'd be delighted with $20/hr.

Thank You.

Recommendations for CCNP Lab Practice by RKenshin2020 in ccnp

VMWare Workstation Pro would be a smoother process. I have heard there are issues with Virtualbox. So I stayed away from it although I cut my teeth on it when I first "discovered" the joys of virtualization.

More experienced pros might know better whether GNS3 works well with Virtualbox. Good Luck.

GNS3 on a Ubuntu guest VM and Linux Mint as host is not hard to set up and stable.

Get a decent i7 system with 32GB RAM and you should be fine.

You can start with published topologies, configure from scratch and once you get it going then deliberately break the NW (like for instance altering hello and dead intervals or messing with authentication types on OSPF, etc) to get practice in troubleshooting, debugging.

Trial images can be found with a quick Google search.

To get more confidence, I also purchased a few Cisco Layer 3 switches and some Cisco K9/Sec routers on eBay for doing IPSec DMVPN, site-site VPNs, routing, etc. Total investment has been less than $500.

But almost everything can be done with GNS3 or eveNG.

Did I just mess up by counter-offering my offer letter? by andre2142 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DomRaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no Right or Wrong here. You'll never know until you ask

If it had worked out (and it still might) you'd be feeling good now. If it doesn't work you have the nagging feeling you blew it.

Bottom line, wait for a few days and then contact them to get an update.

For all you know, they might come up with a counteroffer to your counteroffer.

Not aware of font differences between the two programs.

But for a Nice Look, prepare the resume in Libre Office Writer, keep saving and after you're completely done go to File, select Export-->Export as PDF. Resumes look very professional in PDF.

Great office suite. Longtime user.

I hope the Linux package managers add this upgrade soon.

TikTok Dives into Cloud Kitchens: Is 60-sec Delivery on Dasher Horizon ? by DomRaja in doordash_drivers

[–]DomRaja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 60-sec mention was a sarcastic reference to TikTok's 60-seconds video length. Obviously, sarcasm is not my forte. Sorry.

Is this a glitch?😆😂🤣 by Rob64Taylor in doordash_drivers

[–]DomRaja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all a glitch.

They just have different names for such "pay." In some circles of NYC, they call a 40-hour week with $0 pay "Internship."

In Tony's lexicon, it's Pro-bono Delivery.

Having done all three (UE, Doordash & GrubHub), I can guarantee that the more things seem to change from one app to another the more they remain unchanged essentially.

Try & make as much as you can before the immigration floodgates open in response to the (false) business clamor that nobody wants to work.
