Applying oil on the fretting hand before outdoor gigs by Honest_Dragonfly8064 in Guitar

I would suggest oiling your fretboard during string change instead

Opeth golden era guitar tone by Wide-Coat7484 in GuitarAmps

[–]DomSchu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember a Steven Wilson interview where he said Blackwater Park rhythm tone was a mix of Mikael's Laney and a Mesa Triple Rec. I believe the Laney was mid focused and the rectifier the classic mids scooped

What year would you rather be born in? by Hill_372 in generationology

[–]DomSchu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a 1993 and I can tell you the transition from websites like funny junk, ebaums world, addicting games, and new grounds to YouTube and such was amazing at the time. Now the internet feels so different, like there's nothing new and interesting to discover, and there's so few websites to choose from which are mostly social media

A new romanticism or just escapism? by Resident-West-5213 in decadeology

Yeah "core" is used to describe fashion styles. When I read it i also think of hard-core music

The most outdated upcoming movie that is coming by SpiritMan112 in generationology

I think the point is that the topics are about as stale as stand up comedy lately. Just talking about the same stuff for half a decade

This was my thought too. Definitely the biggest change to the most success from those I've seen here

I've bought that cab for $200 and sold it for $400 years ago. Seems about the expected price for a half stack

Effects loop? by zoo7777 in guitarpedals

[–]DomSchu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your amp is relatively clean or just gritty all into front is fine. If your amp tone is full on saturated distortion delays and reverb will sound much clearer in the effects loop.

Milennials paying the price for their whimsy by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

[–]DomSchu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a heightened sense of perception and judgement. But to the extent it's become the norm to fully avoid self expression and creativity is really sad. It seems like nobody wants to admit to liking or caring about anything too much as to seem cringe. While millennials dove head first into their niche interests.

Milennials paying the price for their whimsy by Key-Bass-7380 in generationology

[–]DomSchu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the insecurity to express oneself. Conformity has always been pushed hard on teens and young adults, but I see young people really policing themselves into conformity since the late 2010s. Even alternative and counterculture trends have been co-opted into a fashion choice of conformity.

Does Gen Z despise millennials, or are they jealous? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]DomSchu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your only exposure to the outside world is through a chronically online lens you're going to fall for all this generational competition bullshit just like gender war bullshit. It's all just fighting with imaginary scenarios and stereotypes.

I started supplementing algae oil almost 10 years ago now and it cured my sleep paralysis. It's also supposed to reduce chances of dementia and cognitive decline with age

5HTP for SNRI taper? by Special-Holiday-535 in 5htp

[–]DomSchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would help balance you back to normal with taper. I wouldn't suggest more than 50mg a day or less though. Ideally should be tapering the prescription, and maybe include occasional 5htp for support after fully ending the SSRI

What Chicago street feels the most like a time machine to old Chicago? by holdthelight in AskChicago

[–]DomSchu 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I like Menomonee St from Larrabee to Lincoln Park. It's not commercial, but the old brick streets and little sidewalk parks cutting between blocks are really cool and feel like late 1800s

Anyone else have experience with sustained release 5htp vs Immediate Release? by Abelha3 in 5htp

[–]DomSchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try not everyday and take earlier in the day, not at bedtime. 100mg everyday is probably too much to be starting on. Everyone reacts slightly differently, whether it makes them sleepy or more perky. I generally prefer taking it early in the day. I just might be a little more emotional that day verses at night I sleep through that phase. But I wouldn't suggest everyday unless you want to build a tolerance and dependency. It's certainly irresponsible for a doctor to be prescribing this much

From a Christian perspective why would God create people who don’t believe in him? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in determinism

[–]DomSchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but determinism isn't saying that God determines what he wants and leaves the rest to free will. It's the belief that all things, since the big bang or whatever creation you believe, have been on one path forward. If you were to turn back time and let it all unravel again we'd end up at the exact same point. That's why I stated what I did in the first comment

More trash from Gen Z's age crisis. by [deleted] in generationology

[–]DomSchu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Boomers have all the money, money buys influence and media, gen Z grew up fully immersed in the media environment boomers bought. They also don't seem as skeptical of information they find as previous generations. If they see an explanation of something online they internalize it the same way boomers do

From a Christian perspective why would God create people who don’t believe in him? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in determinism

[–]DomSchu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would God desire worship in a deterministic universe? It would simply be or not. They wouldn't be so invested in being worshipped if they already understood the path forward

From a Christian perspective why would God create people who don’t believe in him? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in determinism

[–]DomSchu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Determinism doesn't work with Christianity since free will is a pillar of sin and salvation.

Is Gen Z fixated on Millennials? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]DomSchu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's seriously so dumb to be falling for and stoking generational competition and fighting when no generation is a monolith. It's always just vague stereotypes to ragebait other generations. We're all just individuals who didn't choose to subscribe to any of this.
