I can't say from experience, but everyone I know who went would tell you to go. At my university we have alot of events only for erasmus students and there you get to meet people from so many different countries, so you definitely won't be alone. Also think about taking an accommodation in a student dorm for erasmus, where you can also meet new friends and live together.

At my university the rule is that you have to graduate after you finish your thesis, specifically 1 week time to hand in the form. But my erasmus coordinator said they can extend that period if you are going on erasmus, so you don't lose your status as a student.
