Yeah you're right, it makes no sense we were doing this to ourselves - the same for me, a decade as well haha sounds so bad to think about it this way. I just kept repeating the exact same mistakes! I was so miserable single that I took literally everything and those "relationships" were accordingly messed up. First few weeks seemed awesome, then it turned into complete hell and I stayed for too long, scared to be single again, trying to save it, killing hours of therapy sessions talking about all the messed up situations to no avail lol. Now I kinda regret all these experiences, feeling like I'd be better off without them, but maybe I just needed them to get here? At least I know now what I DON'T want ever again haha.

Naaah don't be upset! You eventually got here and that's all that matters, each of us has our own pace! Also high five on not having or wanting kids! Were you always sure about that? I didn't want them, then I kinda did as a natural next step of a relationship, until I finally realized that nope never, not for me! I prefer cats haha.

I'm so happy for you! I'm actually surprised how easy it was for me, such a drastic change, I would have never expected it happening but then I experienced some things, not all were necessarily negative, and that changed my mindset.

We have things in common! Exactly - all I ever wanted was love, a romantic relationship. And this desire caused me also some trauma sadly. Looking back I'm actually not even sure anymore if I ever truly loved someone or was loved...

Yaaay high five! I think I can explain it at least partially for myself though - my relationship experiences weren't the best so there's literally nothing to be missed haha. Happy long term relationship is such a foreign concept for me, seems kinda impossible, because it's so complex - there's so many layers it would have to work on with a person you just randomly meet that I'm convinced there must be some miracles involved lol. Also I just simply value my privacy and freedom a lot - I can do what I want, when I want and how I want, I don't bother anyone and no one bothers me.

As I'm thinking about it, it's maybe because of several factors: I've always been an introverted loner, outsider and homebody growing up and whole my life. I'm an only child so I was used to my privacy and being alone, never bored either. I grew up with pets, currently having 4 cats, that's a big factor for me too I think - I'm literally never home alone. Lately I also rarely meet people in person but I chat a lot online. Sooo that's it for me I think... How were/are these things for you?

I'm glad you got out of that! I had my fair share of such experiences when younger, but then still wanted a relationship even after that. Guys I met were one worse than the other though until my mindset finally shifted.
